Rapunzel had very long golden hair that the witch used to climb up and visit her. One day, a prince came to see her by climbing her hair. The witch got angry and punished them by separating them. After a few years, Rapunzel and the prince found each other and were reunited forever.

Amanda wants to live like Rapunzel in a high tower, away from everyone. She wants peace and harmony. Amanda imagines being like Rapunzel but decides she would never let her hair down for anyone to climb up and disturb her. She believes she doesn't need anyone else to make her happy.

8. What does the girl yearn for? What does this poem tell you about Amanda?

Ans: A girl like Amanda longs for freedom and personal space. She struggles to meet her parents' expectations. Amanda represents many children who face the same situation, regardless of their background. Traditional societies expect certain behaviours from people, and this training starts when they are very young. Parents often overlook their children's innocence and understanding, causing kids to suppress their imagination and thoughts.

9. Read the last stanza. Do you think Amanda is sulking and is moody?
