Pre-University Course which is also popularly known as the PUC is a two-year duration course in the state of Karnataka. Students who have completed the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) are eligible for the PUC as their higher secondary education. The state follows a 10+2 pattern of education whereas in the first year of PUC is termed as the 1st PUC and the second year as 2nd PUC. Approximately 10 lakh students enroll for the PUC examinations here in Karnataka every year.

The PUC examinations are conducted by The Department of Pre-University Education and the Government of Karnataka. Regular examinations for the 2nd PUC are conducted in the month of February every year while the supplementary exam for those who fail the regular exams is conducted in the month of June annually. The PUC course is offered in 50 different types of combinations with a total of 23 subjects and 11 languages. The duration of the PUC examinations is 3 hours.
