Hint: In order to find the solution of the given question, we need to know about diffusion. Also, we need to know about its characteristics in different mediums. After this, we can conclude with the correct answer of the given question.

Complete solution:
Let us first define diffusion.
Diffusion: When the molecules present in an object move from the higher concentration to lower concentration, the process is known as diffusion. In other words, we can say diffusion is the movement of the particles until the particles come in equilibrium position.
Already we know that the molecules will be able to move only if they have free space available. In solids the molecules are very tightly packed. So, the rate of diffusion will not be much faster in solids. If we consider the molecules of liquid, the molecules are loosely packed compared to the solids. Therefore, the rate of diffusion in liquids will be faster than the solids. Now, if we consider the gases, then the molecules are very loosely packed compared to both liquids and solids. Therefore, the diffusion will be faster than the solids and liquids.

Hence, option (B), i.e. faster in gases than liquids and solids is the correct choice of the given question.

Note: Diffusion takes place because of the random motion of the atoms. Diffusion takes place in our body as well. With the help of diffusion only the substances move in and out of the cells. As the diffusion is faster in a gas, that’s why when we sprinkle room freshener, the aroma of it is quickly spread in the entire room.
