The ISC has always focused on producing confident youngsters with an inquisitive mind and the willingness to explore new opportunities. We are committed to nurturing creativity, which is essential for technological growth. Maths is one of the subjects that prepare students for professions in science, engineering, or business that demand logical thinking skills. With this in mind ISC has introduced a new curriculum for class 12 maths that integrates topics from mathematics with physics and economics. Both these courses are recognized by most Universities offering engineering programs in India and abroad.

Importance of Maths:
The prevalence and importance of maths in this age and our society are undeniable. The subject has a significant role in various fields such as education, economy, science, engineering, etc. In today’s competitive world where time is scarce, it’s imperative to ensure that students become proficient with maths.
• The syllabus for Class 12 offered by ISC provides a stepping stone towards achieving that goal. To prepare students at this level for further studies, the syllabus covers both theory and practice of basic mathematical concepts taught in school. This includes topics such as integers, fractions, decimals, and percents; logarithms; trigonometry; geometry; probability & statistics, etc.
• Understanding these concepts and techniques is the first step. Then comes the ability to apply them for solving problems in an educated and logical manner, which can’t be achieved unless one has a strong grasp of the fundamentals.
• And this is where Class 12 maths can help. Since it addresses and covers topics relevant to Class 11, students find it fairly easy to follow and grasp knowledge that’s been already taught in school. This sets them up for the next level, which will primarily address more complex skills such as calculus etc.
Maths Syllabus for Class 12:
The syllabus has been divided into four main parts, which is as follows:
Part I: Numbers and Numerals
Part II: Data Interpretation and Probability
Part III: Algebra, Geometry & Trigonometry & Coordinate Geometry
Part IV: Calculus and Differential Equations.
Mathematics is often perceived as a tedious and difficult subject. However, with the right approach and proper guidance, it can be made easier to understand. To help students better grasp these concepts we’ve provided a detailed breakdown of topics covered under each section of the syllabus. This can be used as a reference point to aid both teachers and students in better understanding the concept at hand.
Part I: Numbers & Numerals
Under this section, the basic concepts of numbers have been covered with an emphasis on their properties, representation using various numeral systems, their relationship with each other, etc. Students are also taught about the various systems of numeration with examples. These include decimal, binary, octal, hexadecimal system, etc. The concepts are then applied to solve basic problems related to these representations being taught in class 11.
Part II: Data Interpretation & Probability
Data interpretation is a key component of the Class 12 mathematics syllabus that covers statistics and probability. Students will be taught to recognize, monitor, and analyze the frequency distribution of a given set of data. The process involves concepts such as mean, standard deviation, median, and mode. We also highlight various techniques that can be used to solve probability problems in everyday life, such as finding an approximate minimum value, finding the highest value, etc.
Part III: Algebra & Geometry
This section includes topics such as linear equations and inequalities; graphs and parametric equations; point set theory; reflections in plane geometry; vector spaces and matrices; transformations in space geometry. It also includes the role of variables in an algebraic expression.
Part IV: Calculus and Differential Equations
This includes topics such as polynomial and rational functions; coordinate geometry; applications of trigonometry; exponential and logarithmic functions. It also includes differential and integral calculus.
