A noun is a word that names something, such as a person, place, thing, or idea. If we look around us, we can name several items that we use in our daily lives; these names are nothing else but nouns.
Let us look at some examples:
The table is broken.
Man is the smartest animal on earth.
Tina is a smart girl.
In the sentences given above, did you notice that some words have been highlighted? These words are some examples of nouns. They are used to refer to anyone or anything around us. All naming words are nouns.
Types of Nouns
Types of Nouns
1. Common Noun
2. Proper Noun
3. Countable Noun
4. Uncountable Nouns
5. Collective Noun
6. Abstract Noun
A word used to describe a noun or noun phrase is known as a pronoun. Pronouns can relate to a noun that has already been mentioned or to a noun that is indirectly understood. For example, I, she, it, we, you, etc.
Verbs describe an action, an occurrence, or a state of being (exist). There must be a verb in almost every sentence. For example, sing, dance, eat, etc.
Parts of Speech
Parts of speech are a group of words distinguished by the type of thought they indicate and their function in a phrase (such as adjectives, adverbs, nouns, and verbs). There are eight parts of speech in English grammar of Class 3: nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections.
According to the social and cultural roles seen as fitting for men and women, gender refers to being male or female.
For female family members, the feminine gender is used, and for males, the masculine. For example, "boy," "girl," "brother," "son," "daughter," "lion," "lioness," etc.
Generally, a sentence is a group of words that includes a subject (the idea or subject of the phrase) and a predicate (what is said about the subject).
For example, Riya goes to school daily.
In this sentence, “Riya” is the subject, and “goes to school daily” is the predicate.
Punctuation is the use of symbols. Periods, commas, and question marks are examples of punctuation marks. After periods, question marks (?), and exclamation marks (!), uppercase letters are used exclusively.
Using capital, or upper-case, letters is known as capitalisation. In English Grammar, it is common to capitalise place names, family names, and days of the week. Capitalisation includes using capital letters at the beginning of sentences and capitalising every letter of a word to emphasise a point.
