It is an inverted muscular organ of the female reproductive system that functions to Nourish and fertilize the egg until the foetus is ready to be delivered. The uterus consists of four major regions

The lining is usually thick during the start of the menstruation cycle if the eggs get fertilized the endometrium help in the development of foetus where as if the eggs are not fertilized the the top layers of the endometrium are shed, and menstrual bleeding occurs., the component of endometrium includes water potassium chlorine ion chloride glucose etc which nourishes the foetus.
Note: The uterine wall is made up of three layers of muscles consist of connective tissues of blood vessels elastic fibre and collagen fibre this helps the uterine wall to expand and become thin as a child develop inside the uterus
