Step by step answer:
Generally, there are two types of democracy 1. Direct democracy and 2. Representative democracy.
1. Direct democracy: Here people directly decide on legislation.
2. Representative democracy: Here people elect representatives to decide on legislation.
People have different opinions, interests, ambitions and belong from different castes, religions where different traditions are followed and languages are spoken. All these differences and different perspectives create clashes and indifferences between people, to deal with all these differences and conflicts the democratic system was found where Direct and Representative are the 2 methods of governing.
There is no exact consensus to define democracy, but some aspects such as rule of law, political freedom, and legal equality are considered important characteristics.
Upward control, political equality, and social norms are the three fundamental principles of democracy on the basis of one theory. In a democracy, decision-making quality is high since there is a huge scope for consultation, discussion, and decision making before reaching a conclusion.
