RMO or Regional Maths Olympiad is the second stage in the Olympiad selection procedure. At this stage, up to 30 candidates from classes 8, 9, 10, 11 and 6 students from grade 12 are chosen based on their PRMO scores from each of the 28 designated regions. Consequently, the level of competition at this stage is quite intense. Hence, participants need to be thoroughly prepared to win the chance to represent India at the International Maths Olympiad. Q1. What is the RMO Counselling Procedure?

Ans. Apart from the RMO mock test, students should also know about the counselling procedure in detail. Only 30 students from class 6 to 11 and 6 students from class 12 will be chosen for the next round, which is the INMO or Indian National Mathematics Olympiad, based on their performance in RMO. Moreover, five girls will also be selected under the girls' quota. Participants can easily check their result online by following the steps mentioned below:

  • They should visit the official website of Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education.

  • On the website, they should click on the tab marked Olympiad 2020-21.

  • Within this section, they will find the link for checking RMO scores and merit list.

  • Candidates can click on the result link and enter their roll number and date of birth to login and view their score. To check the merit list, they can click on the link.

Eligible candidates can then proceed to complete the registration process for INMO.

Q2. Which Books can one Refer to Practise for the Olympiad?

Ans. Besides sample papers and RMO mock test, candidates should also refer to the following books while preparing for maths Olympiad:

  • Mathematical circles.

  • Problem primer for the Olympiads.

  • Inequalities: an approach through problems.

Each of the above books has been suggested on the official website. Therefore, aspirants can refer to them for Olympiad preparation without any worries.
