A Brief into NSO

NSO, an exam conducted by SOF, is also called the National Science Olympiad, is a national-level competitive exam that judges the student’s excellence in Science as a subject each year. This exam, which has two levels, will be valid for students who currently belong to Grade 1 to Grade 12 (For NSO level 1 exam), and as far as the NSO level 2 exam is concerned, the exam will be valid for students belonging to Grades 3 to 12. The result for NSO exam level 1 is declared usually after eight weeks of the exam and is available on the official site of the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). The results are also sent to individual schools

Sections and Markings in NSO

The level 1 NSO exam is conducted at school levels, and this exam will have a duration of 60 minutes. During these 60 minutes, you will be handed over an objective type test, which consists of 35 objective type questions for grades 1 to 4 and 50 objective type questions for grades 5 to 12.

The question paper for NSO level 1 will have three sections as follows based on the grades:

A. For grades 1 to 4, the sections involved are:

Logical Reasoning
Science
Achiever’s Section

B. For grades 5 to 12, the sections involved are as follows:

Physics/Chemistry
Achiever’s Section
Mathematics/Biology

There will be separate question papers for each of the classes participating in the exam, and the medium involved will be English only. While setting the paper syllabus from CBSE, ICSE/ ISC, and State Board are considered.

Steps Involved in Checking the NSO Results in 2023

The steps involved in checking the results for NSO are quite easy and can be done by visiting the site online. The steps for the same are as follows:

Visit the official page for SOF, where the NSO level 1 exam results will be displayed.
Once you visit the page, click on the button displaying the word “Result.”
Once you click through you, get redirected to a page asking your roll number, and a Captcha will be asked to solve.
Once you click on show result, you will find the result attached with the details of the exam and the marks.
You can save and take a printout of the NSO level 1 exam results for future needs.

This is one of the ways you can check the results, while the other way is to visit the school office to get a printed version of the result.

There is no specific eligibility criteria for participation in NSO. Students studying in standards 1-12 can appear for the exam.

NSO 2023 Important Dates

There are 3 dates schools can choose for the conduction of NCO Exam. The school can select either of these 3 dates - 17th October 2023, 21st November 2023 & 5th December 2023. NSO Results are expected to be declared within 8 weeks of each Exam. The results are sent to schools as well as uploaded on the official website.

NSO 2023 Exam Registration Process

The NSO 2023 Registration Process is as easy as it can get. The students can go through the table below for easy understanding.

Step 6	Students can download the NSO admit card from the official website, a week before the exam. Hall tickets will also be sent to students’ registered Email ID and mobile number.
