NSO Student Registration

The prospectus along with application forms is sent to schools seeking to participate in the NSO Olympiad Exam. Schools that are not registered can also request a prospectus by officially contacting the conducting body via e-mail/phone call. The duly filled NSO exam application forms and the students’ application fees need to be submitted 30 days before the NSO exam date opted for by the particular school


National Science Olympiad (NSO) Registration 2023-24

  • Aspirants can register for the National Science Olympiad (NSO)  through their respective schools that they are enrolled in.

  • The coordinator of the school will carry out the next steps regarding the allotment of the student's roll numbers according to the issued guidelines.

  • A copy of their student registration, roll number, and school registration sheets are to be submitted to the office of the foundation as instructed by the school.

  • Students have to pay a nominal registration fee for the NSO exam; the details for which are explained below:

NSO 2023-24 Exam Roll Numbers

The school's coordinating teacher is authorised to fill the School Registration Form (SRF) in addition to the Students' Registration Sheet (SRS) in compliance with the guidelines provided to them. A copy of this requires being submitted to the SOF office before the NSO exam's last date of registration. Afterward, the organising authority will register the applicant school and its students. Thereafter, it will generate the NSO exam roll numbers for all students in accordance with the Students' Registration Sheet (SRS).

 

Note: Any school can be registered as a centre to conduct the SOF NSO Olympiad Exam. Moreover, no fee is charged by the institution to become a registered examination centre.


NSO 2023-24 Exam Admit Card

NSO admit cards are issued to all the applicants who complete the registration process. The applicant’s admit card contains all the details of the candidates as well as some information and instructions related to the exam. The key details related to the admit card is given below for the reference of the candidates:

  • The candidates who seek to appear for the NSO Olympiad exam conducted by SOF need to collect the admit card since it is a crucial document, and without it, applicants will not be able to appear for the competitive exam.

  • The Foundation authority will also update the admit cards of the applicants online on the official website of the university.

  • To get the admit card, applicants need to visit and download the admit card from the official website of the university.

  • Applicants are necessitated to carry the admit card at the time of the entrance exam.

NSO Eligibility Criteria 2023-24

NSO Level 1 Eligibility Criteria

NSO eligibility criteria states that students enrolled in classes 1st to 12th are eligible to appear for the NSO Level 1 exams and there is no minimum marks requirement.

 

NSO Level 2 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for NSO Level 2 exam address the guidelines where it is mentioned  that only students between Classes 3 and 12 need to appear in the exam. Additionally, only certain selected students of these classes who match the required conditions and qualify in the Level 1 exam of NSO are eligible to appear for the second level. These students include 

  • Class-wise top 5% of students, who appear for the Level 1 exam.

  • Zone-wise and class-wise top 25 rank holders.

  • Class toppers from each of the participating schools where a minimum of 10 students from a class appear in the exam and obtain 50% qualifying marks. 

  • In case section-wise registration is received, students with the highest marks, irrespective of the section, will qualify for the 2nd level. Also, for the section-wise registrations, gold medal winner(s) doesn’t need to qualify for the 2nd level.

 

Important Points to Note

  • A student can apply for the exam once a year.

  • A minimum of 10 students should register from each school for the NSO exam 2023-24.


NSO National Science Olympiad 2023-24 - Exam Pattern

Knowing the NSO exam structure and pattern can prove to be helpful for students who are willing to attempt the exam as it provides an outlook to the students from which students can know what to expect. The exam is divided into different sections and there are various types of questions in the exam. As per the NSO exam structure, the exam duration is 60 minutes and is conducted during school hours only. The medium of the exam is English. 35 questions in total are asked for students from Classes 1 to 4 while 50 questions are asked for students in Classes 5 to 12. NSO Admit Card 2023-24

Students can collect their admit cards from their respective school coordinators. The Admit card will be released around 1 week before the exam date. You can also download your admit card by visiting the official website of SOF (Science Olympiad Foundation).


NSO Answer Key 2023-24

Science Olympiad Foundation will release the NSO answer key of examination set- A, B, and C in December. The NSO answer key is released for students to check accurate answers to each question, you can analyse your performance based on the answer key and calculate your estimated score. The NSO answer key will be released on the official website of SOF.

 

NSO Results 2023-24

NSO Results are typically declared within 8 weeks after the examination is conducted. The NSO results of the students are sent to the schools concerned. The tentative dates of NSO results are March 2024. Additionally, NSO results are also made available on the official website of SOF. Students can check their NSO result score using their roll number.

1. When Will the NSO Exam Result Be Announced?

National Science Olympiad Examination exam results will be announced and updated by the official authority on the official website. There is a provision that schools can select tentative dates for conducting the National Science Olympiad. 2. Are there Any Minimum Marks Required for the NSO Exam Registration?

For NSO exam registration 2023-24, students studying in classes I to XII from any known institution, board, or government-aided school are qualified to appear for the NSO exam registration. There is no requirement for minimum marks to be obtained by the candidates. Students who qualify for Level1 of the NSO exam are selected to appear in Level 2 of the NSO exam. Students of Classes 1 and 2 are not eligible for NSO Level 2 exams. Their performance is judged based on the results of the Level 1 exams only. 

3. What is the Last Date of NSO Exam Registration level 2?

The NSO exam application form deadline is generally 30 days before the exam date. The release of NSO answer keys for sets and declaration of Level1 is tentatively released in December 2023-24 and tentatively, NSO Level 2 results will be declared by March 2023.
