National Standard Examination
To begin with your Olympiad preparations, it is important to remember that the National Standard Examination (NSE) is the first step of the International Olympiad Program. This examination is conducted every year by the IAPT in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, and Junior Science for school-going students. Once this stage is cleared, The students take e other exams conducted by the Homi Bhabha Center for the qualified candidates Science Education (HBCSE) located in Mumbai. The next step in the Olympiad quest involves participation in the Indian National Olympiad (INO) in the respective subjects. By Qualifying at this stage, the students become eligible for participation in the International Olympiad.

3. What is the INO exam pattern?
The question set for the Olympiads contains both subjective and objective questions. The questions for Paper 1 are all MCQ-based and the time provided for completing this paper is 1 hour. While Paper 2 consists of subjective questions, and the total time allotted for this paper is 2 hours. Paper 2 of the students will be evaluated only if the candidate scores more than the cut-off marks in paper 1. Qualifying in paper 2 will get them to qualify for OCSC.
4. What is the syllabus for IOQ?
The Syllabus is:
IOQP (Physics):
It comprises the syllabus for senior secondary level, i.e, till CBSE Class 12.
IOQC (Chemistry):
It comprises the syllabus for senior secondary level, i.e, till CBSE Class 12.
IOQA (Astronomy):
It comprises the syllabus for senior secondary level, that is, till CBSE Class 12. More importance is given to subjects like Physics, Mathematics, and Elementary Astronomy.
IOQB (Biology):
It comprises the syllabus for senior secondary level, i.e, till CBSE Class 12th.
IOQJS (Junior Science):
It comprises the syllabus for senior secondary level, i.e, till CBSE Class 12. The science subjects are given high priority.
5. What are the advantages of the Olympiads?
The Olympiads are conducted at a global scale and help the students to assess their problem-solving abilities and their knowledge of the subject at their school level, at their city level, at the national level, and also at the international level. These Olympiads are very important for students to develop a competitive spirit inside them as it helps them get the feel of a globally competitive environment and scoring good marks in an Olympiad is also considered as very reputable.
6. What are the eligibility criteria for IOQ 2023-24?
The eligibility criteria for IOQ are as follows.
IOQJS :
DOB- January 1, 2009 -December 31, 2010, both days inclusive.
Students appearing must pass Class 10 before November 20, 2022.
They should not be appearing for IOQA, IOQB, IOQC, or IOQP 2022.
IOQA/B/C/P :
DOB – July 1, 2004, and June 30, 2009, both days inclusive.
Students should not pass Class 12 before November 30, 2022.
They must not have already enrolled in any college or institution.
They should not be appearing for IOQJS.
