The National Cyber Olympiad (NCO) is a competitive exam. It is conducted as a single- level exam. The main purpose of this exam is to test the cyber concepts and knowledge of students from Grade 1 to 12. This exam will help to identify and empower the IT talents of the students and will also nurture the little scientists within them. The exam will also help the students to analyse themselves at four different levels - school level, city level, zonal level and international level. The National Cyber Olympiad is conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). This talent search exam is very popular among the students.

How to Participate in the National Cyber Olympiad?

The Science Olympiad Foundation’s National Cyber Olympiad is open for participation for students of Grade 1 to 10. The students need to register themselves through their schools. The SOF sends prospectus and registration forms to the schools registered with SOF. If any school is not registered, they can register themselves by just sending an email. The SOF’s NCO is conducted on two dates. The students need to pay registration fees to participate in the exam.

National Cyber Olympiad Eligibility Criteria

The most basic eligibility criteria for the students to participate in Science Olympiad Foundation’s National Cyber Olympiad is that they have to be a student of any recognised board such as CBSE, ICSE or any state boards. The students from class 1 to 10 can sit for the exam and there are no minimum marks to sit for the exam.

A few points to remember here:

  • The medals are gold, silver and bronze colour plated.

  • If up to 5 students achieve the same rank, the award amount will be distributed equally among the students. In addition to this, all will be awarded a medal of the applicable category and certificates.

  • If 6 or more students achieve the same rank, the students will get gifts worth Rs 1000 + a medal of the applicable category + certificate.

At School Level

  1. For the Class & School Toppers

  • For 5 - 9 students writing the exam in a class - Gold medal to top rank holder.

  • For 10 - 25 students writing the exam in a class - Gold medal to top 3 students of the class.

  • For more than 25 students writing the exam in a class - Gold medal to top 10% rank holders of the class.

  1. Student Performance Report 

  • Every student participating in the National Cyber Olympiad gets a student performance report.

  • The student performance report is the detailed analysis of their answers. The students can analyze their strengths and weaknesses through this result.

The Student Performance Report Has Six Sections:

Section A - This section has student’s school, city, zonal and international ranks.

Section B - This section provides past performance analysis.

Section C - This section provides a percentage score analysis of the student and there is a comparison at school, city, zonal and international level.

Section D - This section provides a comparison of average marks analysis of the student at school, city, zonal and international level.

Section E - This section provides topic wise analysis of the student.

Section F - Comparative analysis with respect to previous years’ performance, it appeared.

National Cyber Olympiad Exam Dates

Last year, i.e, 2021 the exam was cancelled because of the pandemic - the massive spread of covid-19. This year, the exam is scheduled on two dates - 21st December 2021 and 18th January 2022. But the exam will only happen if it is safe to take the exam. Depending on the situation, the exam may be postponed or cancelled. 


National Cyber Olympiad Exam Syllabus

Here is the syllabus for the NCO exam for grade 1 to 10.

Syllabus for Grade 1 - Patterns, Completion of figure patterns, measuring units (length, weight, time and money), Geometrical shapes, Odd one out, Spatial understanding, the grouping of figures, analogy, ranking test and computer & IT.


Syllabus for Grade 2 - Patterns, measuring units, Odd one out, series completion, geometrical shapes, analogy, ranking test, coding-decoding, grouping figures, embedded figures and computer & IT.


Syllabus for Grade 3 - Coding - decoding, analogy and classification, mirror images, embedded figures, alphabet test, ranking test, grouping figures, geometrical shapes, figure matrix, possible combinations, days and dates and computer & IT.


Syllabus for Grade 4 - Alphabet test, coding-decoding, patterns, geometrical shapes, solids, direction test, mirror images, embedded figures, ranking test, days and dates and possible combinations, analogy, classification and computer & IT.

SECTION 2 - Computer & IT: History and generations of computers, types of computers, MS Windows, MS Word - Working with charts & tables, page layout, arranging multiple windows of a document; MS Powerpoint - creating a presentation using animations, custom animation, transitions, creating new slides using slides pane, outline pane and slides from an outline, working with handouts and notes master, arranging multiple windows of a presentation, working with charts and tables; internet & e-mail, introduction to QBasic, Hardware, software, Input & Output devices, Memory and Storage devices, and last but not the least latest developments in the IT sector.

National Cyber Olympiad Previous Year Question Papers

Previous year question papers help students to understand the paper pattern. Students must solve the previous year question papers for a better understanding of the exam. 


National Cyber Olympiad Sample and Mock Test Papers

NCO sample papers, mock test papers and previous year question papers have the same importance. Students should solve more and more sample papers to successfully crack the exam and rank high.


National Cyber Olympiad Level 2

There is no 2nd level in NCO. 


National Cyber Olympiad Answer Key

The answer key of the National Cyber Olympiad is released on the official website of the Science Olympiad Foundation. The students can download the answer key and check their answers. The students can calculate their score from the answer key.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q1. When SOF Results will Be Declared?

Ans: The Science Olympiad Foundation declares the result of the National Cyber Olympiad within 8 weeks of the exam. This year, the exam will be conducted on 21st December 2021 and 18th January 2022. So, the result will be declared within 8 weeks of 18th January 2022.

Q2. When IMO Results will be Declared 2021?

Ans: Just like the NCO, IMO i.e, International Mathematics Olympiad’s result is also declared within the 8 weeks of the exam. The International Mathematics Olympiad will be conducted on 23rd November 2021, 9th December 2021 and 16th December 2021.

Q3. When SOF IEO Results will be Declared?

Ans: The results of the Science Olympiad Foundation’s International English Olympiad (IEO) will be declared within 8 weeks of the examination. This year, the examination will be held on three dates - 28th October 2021, 9th November 2021 and 18th November 2021. So, the results will be declared within 8 weeks of 18th November. The results will be sent directly to the schools.

Q4. How Can I Check My SOF Result?

Ans: Steps to check SOF result are as follows:

  • Step 1 - Visit the official website of the Science Olympiad Foundation.

  • Step 2 - On the homepage of SOF, select the olympiad (NCO, NSO, IMO, IEO, ICO, IGKO, or ISSO)

  • Step 3 - Enter your roll no.

  • Step 4 - Enter the captcha.

  • Step 5 - Your SOF result will be displayed on the screen.
