Hint: Direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) are the two forms that electric current may take (DC). In an alternating current system, the flow of electricity alternates between advanced and reverse at regular intervals. When using a direct current, electricity moves constantly in one direction. Direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) are distinguished primarily by the direction of electron movement. The electron flow is unidirectional in DC and alternately forward and backward in AC.
Complete answer:
We must convert AC to DC due to the following reasons:
\[\bullet\] Storage of alternating current (AC) signals is impossible, however DC power and signals could be stored. Therefore, we must convert the AC power into DC so that it may be stored.
\[\bullet\] Rectifiers are used to transform alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC) for use with digital electronics. Now, a rectifier can be either full wave or half wave. Furthermore, precision rectifiers allow for exact ac to dc conversion.
\[\bullet\] Since AC has a frequency, it can be transmitted across great distances, while DC cannot since it has no frequency. That's why most modern buildings and factories use alternating current electricity. Any electrical equipment or system under inspection or observation requires a dc power source.
Note:AC electricity cannot be stored, however DC power can. The conversion of AC to DC allows for the long-term storage of electrical power. Additionally, Direct current is required for digital gadgets to operate.
