Whenever a force forces a body to react, the force does work on the thing. Work is the quantity of energy transferred whenever a force ‘f’ drives an object a distance ‘d’. That means a force that induces motion in the force's direction has performed work. Mathematically, the work is defined as,

The larger the quantity of work done, the higher the force employed or the higher the distance traveled. In simple words, Energy is defined as an object's capacity to perform work or produce a movement. Whenever we work on anything, part of our energy is then transferred to it.
