Here we know that charges are of two types positive and negative. These two types of charges are available everywhere in existence. We know that atoms are made up of many particles, sub particles, etc. Out of the many particles the atom consists of basically three particles namely proton, neutron and electron. Where a proton is positively charged, a neutron has neutral charge, an electron has a negative charge. An object which possesses a greater number of electrons will have a negative charge on it and an object which has a greater number of protons will have a positive charge on it. Here, positive-positive charge attracts each other and negative-negative charges repel each other. Two opposite charges attract each other. So, by this analogy if a negative object attracts another object then the charge on the other object will be positive. An object can be in neutral state but when an object which has a negative charge is put close to an object with a neutral charge. The electrons of the object which is having a negative charge will attract the positive charges on the object which is neutral in nature. Here, neutral means that the object has an equal number of positive and negative charges.
