JEE Mains Important Dates, Schedule, Counselling Details for 2019 Exam

JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Main, which was earlier conducted by CBSE, has now been handed over to National Testing Agency (NTA). It is an autonomous body operating under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India (GoI).

Hence, from 2019 onwards, aspirants seeking to apply for JEE Mains need to do it from NTA’s official link dedicated to this national level engineering exam. NTA being entirely responsible for conducting this exam creates the schedule of exam dates and other important dates to be followed.

The JEE Main exam date 2019 has already been declared, and the examination was conducted accordingly. The exam had two papers; Paper 1, which was conducted for admission to B.Tech/B.E courses and Paper 2, for admission to courses in B.Arch/B.Planning. The exam will be conducted in the same pattern in the future unless a new paradigm gets introduced or the existing one is modified.

After qualifying the JEE Mains, candidates can apply for admission to one of the courses mentioned above in many government and private colleges in India. However, those aiming for admission to one of the IITs need to mandatorily clear JEE Advanced after qualifying JEE Main. Candidates ranking among the top 2,24,000 will be eligible to sit for the counseling and the process henceforth.

JEE Main exam date 2019

JEE Main is conducted twice every year. In 2019 too, the same pattern continued, and examinations for both the papers followed in two separate sessions: January and April. The later has just been concluded, and candidates are awaiting results for the same.

For those who have appeared in both these sessions, the relevant result will be the one they have fared better in. Since there are two sessions of examination followed every year, candidates need to register for them separately if they intend to appear for both.

The exams for each session have a division of eight sittings. Candidates can choose one JEE Mains online exam date from the available sitting as per their convenience and appear for it.

Mode of examination

Examinations for all the sittings of JEE Main Paper 1 are conducted in Computer-Based Training (CBT) mode. For Paper 2, a part of this exam follows the CBT mode, and the rest is in offline mode. The JEE Mains 2019 followed this mode.

The same schedule applies for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the two sessions.

While all the procedures for these exams were held in the first session of 2019, i.e., January, and many for the second session, i.e., April sessions have concluded, some more procedures for the later are as follows.

    Tentative counselling dates for JEE Main

    Aspirants looking for JEE Main exam date 2019 must also be aware of other relevant dates related to this exam’s counselling procedure. With this information, they can prepare for admission to a participating institute on qualifying the exam.

    JoSAA conducts the counselling process for admission to various B.Tech/B.Arch courses in Indian institutes. CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) conducts two additional rounds whereby it allots the remaining seats of UTs, regions in the Northeast along with the other 17 SFTIs participating in the counselling procedure.

    The 6th round of seat allotment is also the last round where students can withdraw their application for choice filling. They will not be allowed to do so in the last round of the counselling.

    Also, as mentioned above, these are predicted dates as per counselling conducted in previous years. Its actual dates will be updated once the conducting authority notifies of the same after JEE Main 2019 results are out.
