JEE Advanced 2019 is around the corner, and you as an applicant must be knee-deep in your preparations. Considering the importance that this examination holds and the competition for the limited number of seats, it is essential that aspirants put in their heart and soul into it.

Besides the preparations, they also need to be updated with the alterations being introduced to JEE Advanced 2019 due to a change in the conducting body. In addition to these changes, there have been some essential updates on JEE Advanced exam centres.

JEE Advanced Exam Centres

JEE Advanced is the 2nd round of examination after JEE Mains. Once a candidate clears the Mains, he/she has two options, either take admission in the allotted college after the counselling process or take the JEE Advanced examination. The advanced level of JEE qualifies one to get a chance at studying in the esteemed Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs).

With the on-going JEE Mains 2019 (7th-20th April 2019), candidates aspiring for the IITs will now be ready to fill in their application form for the advanced level of examination. Before registering for it, you need to know about the examination centres from which you can appear.

Each year, one of the Zonal Coordinating IITs takes turn to conduct this exam. IIT Roorkee will be presiding over it this year. The exam will be held over a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode where candidates have the provision of choosing 5 examination centres based on the zone they appear from.

    With in-depth knowledge about the available examination centre in each of the IIT zones, candidates can now fill up their forms with their preferred choice of 5 centres. One must remember to fill in the form as fast as possible because the centres are filled up on a first-come-first-serve basis.

    Once the aspirants submit the application form with their preferred location, the conducting authority makes sure that either one of the 5 centres is allotted to them. It is rare for the centre to be any other place.

    FAQ 1: Can an aspirant request for a change in the examination centre of JEE Advanced?

    Ans: Unfortunately, the conducting body will not entertain any request of examination centre change for the JEE Advanced level later.

    FAQ 2: When is JEE Advanced examination for 2019?

    Ans: This year, JEE Advanced will be held on the 27th of May 2019 (dates were postponed for the upcoming elections) and will be completely in a computer-based mode.

    Tip: Keeping in mind the opportunity provided by this examination, the conducting body is stringent with its set of rules and regulations. Hence, do remember to book your preferred 5 locations as exam centres at the earliest.

    FAQ 3: When can I know about my allotted JEE Advanced examination centre?

    Ans: The JEE Advanced admit card will contain examinee’s allotted examination centre. So, once the conducting authority announces the availability of the hall ticket online, candidates can download it and look into the examination centre.

    Tip: Do visit the examination centre prior to the original date of the exam. This will make sure that you reach on time on the day of the test.
