Admission Process in IIT Delhi

The admission process in IIT Delhi follows a systematic approach and maintains different timelines for different courses. It helps students or parents to not get confused and easily understand the flow of communication and the admissions process.


Initially, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the JEE Examinations. The students who qualify for the exam will get a call for counselling. What are the Factors Determining the IIT Delhi Cut-Off?

IIT Delhi cut-off is determined by the competent authority in view of the following factors:

  • The total number of candidates who appeared for the examination.

  • Level of the toughness of JEE Advanced examination.

  • Total number of seats vacant at IIT Delhi.

  • Cut-off trends in the previous years.

  • Category-wise distribution of the candidates.


Scholarships

IIT Delhi offers the scholarship to meritorious students who are eligible for Merit-cum-means (MCM) scholarships. For the MCM scholarship, the family income of the candidate should be less than 4.5 LPA and the candidate must score 6 CGPA. But, an utmost 25% of students can get this scholarship that provides a tuition waiver and an amount of Rs. 1000 and only 10% of students provided only tuition waivers.

SC/ST candidates will get full relaxation from the tuition fee.

The student with the lowest means will be awarded this scholarship. The student eligible for this scholarship shall not be a recipient of any other scholarship.

One scholarship is awarded to 2nd-year B.Tech students of Textile Technology based on MCM having a CGPA of 6.0 or more.

Bina Dewan Singh Scholarship

One scholarship is awarded every year to a 1st-year student of the undergraduate programs based on MCM having a family income less than or equal to Rs. 6.0 LPA.

Gobind H. Keswani Scholarship

One MCM scholarship will be provided every year to a first-year student of the UG program admitted through IIT JEE having a family income not exceeding Rs. 5 LPA. Renewal subject to maintaining a GPA of 7.0

CS&E 1998 Batch Scholarship

This is for computer engineering students. One scholarship is awarded to a 2nd-year student from a Computer Science & Engineering course based on MCM. The student shall not be a recipient of any other scholarship.

Indian Women's Association Bonn Scholarship

One scholarship is awarded to an Ist year UG student based on MCM (Parental income up to Rs.5.0 LPA). Under specific conditions namely -

Renewal subject to maintaining a CGPA of 7.00 and earning at least 45 credits each year.

Suppose the chosen student is already in receipt of any other scholarship/ financial assistance. In that case, he/she will be offered the option to choose this scholarship or the other one because only one scholarship is available for one student.

These conditions are meant for avoiding negligence, dedicated to studies, and view of providing available scholarships to the maximum number of students.


Placements

Most of the MNCs visit every year to IIT Delhi. Usually, 80% of the students will step out from this institute with at least one offer letter in hand.
