The National Talent Search Examination is a national level examination managed by the NCERT or National Council of Education Research and Training. It is one of the most coveted examinations in our country, which provides deserving students with a scholarship. The exam is held in two different levels and is held twice every year.

What is NTSE?

The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a national level exam to provide scholarships to the deserving students of our country. NCERT conducts this exam to identify the skilled and intelligent students in the secondary school level.

NTSE exam is held at two levels, they are:

Stage 1 (State Level)

The first exam is held at a state level. Here all the students of Class 10 from any board are eligible to appear for this exam. This exam also has two parts:

  1. Part I – Mental Ability Test (MAT) which is based on general knowledge.

  2. Part II – Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) which is based on a candidate’s basic school-level knowledge of Science, Mathematics and Social Science.

Stage 2 (National Level)

The second level of this exam is held at a national level where every student who was successful in Stage 1 and has achieved the state cut-off of marks can appear. It is also held in two parts, which include:

  1. Part I – MAT

  2. Part II – SAT

They are the same as stage 1 of the exam.

This NTSE exam is held all over India and every state has a different time and date for this examination. This entire process starts from the date of application and proceeds to the date of receiving your admit card, finally coming to the NTSE exam date. There are two stages of the exam that are held in a gap of 6 months. Hence, this exam is held over a long period and it involves several dates. These are the estimated dates associated with this examination. However, exact dates tend to differ from one state to another. For example, NTSE exam date 2020 for Class 10 students Stage 1 in Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Andaman & Nicobar Islands is November 2, 2020.

The Exam date for Karnataka, West Bengal, Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, Jharkhand and Bihar is November 15 and the rest of the states is November 3. Exam for the 2nd stage is supposed to be May 2021. However, all these dates are liable to get postponed due to the ongoing pandemic.

  • Step 2: Collect the application form by the State Liaison Officer.

  • Step 3: Fill up the form carefully.

  • Step 4: Get the form attested by the head of your academic institution.

  • Step 5: Submit the duly filled application form along with the examination fee (if any) to the State Liaison Officer.
