Q1. What is a National Talent Search Examination or NTSE?
Ans. National Talent Search Examination or NTSE is a scholarship programme started by the NCERT board in 1961. It is an initiative by the NCERT to identify students with academic excellence and award them with a scholarship programme until their PhD levels. All students studying in Class 10 from any board can appear for the exam.
NTSE exams are held in two stages. The first stage is held at a state level, which is open to all students of Class 10. The second stage is held at a national level and comprises those students who are shortlisted in Stage 1. It provides scholarships to the best 2000 students that appear for this exam every year.
Q2. How to Apply for NTSE Exam?
Ans. The application process for the NTSE exam is very simple. The two stages of the exam do not require two separate forms; one form for stage 1 is sufficient for both the stages. Few easy steps to be followed for the application process of NTSE exam are as follows:
Step 1: Find out the notification of the Stage 1 NTSE exam date from the local newspaper by the respective state or Union Territory government.
Step 2: Collect the application form by the State Liaison Officer.
Step 3: Fill up the form carefully.
Step 4: Get the form attested by the head of your academic institution.
Step 5: Submit the duly filled application form along with the examination fee (if any) to the State Liaison Officer.
Q3. What is the Date of NTSE 2020 Exam Date?
Ans. The date of the NTSE exam 2020 will vary in different States and Union Territories. Stage 1 of this exam, which is held at the state level, is conducted on different dates for different states. The stage 1 exam dates for Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Andaman and Nicobar Islands are on November 1, 2020. For the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, NCT of Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir it is November 15 and for the rest of the states and Union Territories, it is November 3. However, stage 2 of the exam there is held on the same day for all the candidates of all the states, that is May 10, 2021.
