NSEJS (National Standard Examination for Junior Science) is a qualifying examination. Students write it as the first level of tests on the road to the International Olympiad for Junior Science.

It is held by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT), along with the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE). Students all over the country enrol for it. Every year, this examination is held in November. Around a month later, in December, the governing bodies release the outcome of that year’s test. Based on the NSEJS exam results, students will proceed to a second round of examinations in their ultimate goal to represent India in the International Science Olympiad.
