Latest KVPY Exam Pattern for SB/SX Stream- 2021

1. The exam for SB/SX stream is held between 2 pm and 5 pm 

2. The Question Paper is divided into 2 parts. Part 1 carries a total of 80 marks, each subject carrying 20 questions, and Part 2 carries a total of 40 marks, each subject carrying 10 questions each.  

3. Students must attempt any 3 sections from Part 1 ( 20x3 = 60 marks ) and 2 section from part 2 ( 20x2 = 40 marks ) 

4. The Question Paper is of a total of 160 marks.

5. In Part 1, one mark will be given for every correct answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer. In Part 2, two marks will be for every correct answer and 0.5 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

1. What are the eligibility criteria for KVPY? 

Ans: If you are studying in class 11th or 12th then you can apply for KVPY SX and SB or if you are enrolled in any UG science field then you are eligible to apply for KVPY SA. The paper is set at the IISc Committee. But if you are completing the study by distance education or if you do not have Indian citizenship, you cannot apply.

2. Is the use of calculators permitted during the exam? 

Ans: No, the use of calculators or any electronic device is not permitted in the exam hall. There is a rough-work space provided in the question booklet where you can work out your numerical problems. Even digital watches or smartwatches are to be not worn inside the exam hall. If the use of any such devices is found then the student will be asked to leave the exam hall and strict actions will be taken against him/her. 

3. What is the Selection Procedure for KVPY?

Ans: Students looking to avail of KVPY scholarship will have to go through 2 stages of examination. Firstly, a written test and secondly, a personal interview round. 

75% of marks will be calculated from the written exam and the remaining 25% will be considered from the interview round. So, make sure with your technical skills your verbal skills are also polished. The interview process is to identify your knowledge and your confidence level. 

4. In which language is the KVPY exam conducted? 

Ans: KVPY exam is held in 2 languages- English and Hindi all over India at different exam centres in different cities so, the Candidates can take the test in either of the languages that they are comfortable in.
