The Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) is an entrance examination for admission to undergraduate courses in different universities across the country. It was previously known as Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET). The CUET examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) under the supervision of the Universities Grant Commission (UGC). The qualified candidates get the opportunity to enroll in various programs in 54 central universities in India.

Till now, 44 universities including JNU, BHU, Aligarh Muslim University, and JMI have accepted the CUET as a part of their admission process. Considering the lack of uniformity in admission criteria between different university boards, the UGC has decided to conduct this exam to streamline the admission process and allow students to register for suitable courses in top universities.

The CUCET UG 2023 exam is scheduled to be held from May 21 to 31. Before starting the application process, candidates are requested to check out the CUCET eligibility criteria 2023 discussed below.

CUET Eligibility Criteria 2023

The students who have passed the 10+2 board examination or 10+3 diploma approved by the state board of technical education are eligible to appear for the CUET UG 2023 examination. The CUET eligibility criteria differ from one university to another and for different courses. Candidates can check the CUET 2023 eligibility criteria from the official website of the institution they are applying for. The eligibility criteria refer to the minimum qualification that a candidate must possess to become eligible for admission to the listed universities that are participating in CUET 2023.

In general, a minimum of 50% marks is required for general candidates and 45% marks for SC/ST candidates in the 12th standard. Candidates willing to appear in the CUET 2023 need to complete the application process online through the official website of NTA. The application process will be going to start in 1st week of April 2023 and ended in 4th week of April 2023.

A candidate not meeting the desired CUET exam eligibility criteria as found in the application process will be disqualified for appearing in the CUET exam.

The eligibility criteria as specified by NTA don’t specify any age limit for candidates. However, candidates need to check the age requirements of individual universities where they wish to study. The candidate must satisfy the eligibility conditions as set by a specific university or college to get admission. Even if a candidate passes the CUET UG 2023 examination, he or she may be denied admission to a particular college if the eligibility conditions are not met.

The CUET 2023 Examination Pattern

The candidates must be aware of the syllabus, exam pattern, and CUET total marks to prepare for the exam effectively. The following points will be helpful for students.
