उत्तर: बड़े मियाँ को मालूम था कि लेखिका को पशु-पक्षियों से बहुत प्रेम है। यदि वह किसी और को मोर बेचते तो वह मोर को मारकर उसके पैरों से दवाई बना लेता । लेकिन बड़े मियाँ जानते थे कि लेखिका मोर को नहीं मारेंगी इसलिए उसने मोर लेखिका को ही बेचा।

2. लेखिका किस बात से चिढ़ जाती हैं और क्यों?

उत्तर: लेखिका को अनेक बार ठगा गया इसलिए ठगे जाने की बात पर लेखिका चिढ़ जाती है। जब लेखिका मोर के जोड़े को घर लेकर आईं तो घरवाले बोलने लगे कि वे मोर नहीं अपितु तीतर के बच्चे हैं। पहले भी उन्हें ऐसे ठगा गया है इसलिए वह यह बात सुनकर चिढ़ गईं।

उत्तर: सभी जानवर एक साथ मेल-मिलाप से रहते थे। परंतु कुब्जा का स्वभाव ईर्ष्यालु था। वह सभी को परेशान करती थी। वह सबको नीलकंठ से दूर करने की कोशिश करती रहती थी और इस कारण वह सभी जानवरों को अपनी चोंच से घायल कर देती थी। उसने राधा को भी घायल कर दिया था और उसके अंडे नष्ट कर दिये थे। उसके इस स्वभाव के कारण सभी कुब्जा से दूर रहते थे।

2. वसंत में नीलकंठ जालीघर में क्यों नहीं रह पाता था?

उत्तर: वसंत ऋतु में नीलकंठ अपने आंतरिक स्वभाव के कारण अस्थिर हो जाता था। उसे फलों वाले पेड़ों से अधिक फूल और सुगंध वाले पेड़ भाते थे। वसंत में आम के पेड़ मंजरियों से भर जाते थे और अशोक के पेड़ पर लाल पत्तियाँ भर जाती थीं। उसे मालूम चल जाता था कि जल्द बादल छा जाएँगे और वर्षा में नाचने के लिए वह अधीर हो जाता था। इसी कारण वसंत में वह जालीघर में नहीं रह पाता था।
