  1. Chapter 1 consists of the story” The three questions” written by Leo Tolstoy. The three questions is a simple story in which there was a king who was concerned with the three questions. So he consulted many wise men and every time he got an answer from them he wasn’t satisfied with those answers.   1. Chapter 2 comprises the story “The gift of chappals”. The story is divided into two parts where the first part showcases the kindness the children shower on a cat. The second part showcases the simplicity and humbleness of the children towards a beggar when they present him the chappals as a gift. The author through this story beautifully narrates the simplicity and innocence of the children.

  1. Chapter 4 comprises the story ”The ashes that made the tree bloom”. The author of this story is William Elliot Griffis. The story is about an old humble couple who loved animals and one day they found a dog. The couple loved the dog unconditionally. Whenever the dog put his paw on a tree and asked the old man to dig, he would find gold. This way the dog made the old couple rich. There was another greedy couple who did not like animals and were very rude to everyone. The story revolves around the dog and the old couples trying the readers to understand the importance of faithfulness, happiness, and compassion, etc with a hint of magical realism. The story greatly portraits how greedy human beings are. The story explains that people are recognized by their deeds they perform. It shows if people are kind to everyone around them they tend to be happy and nature will reward them and if they are greedy they will always be unhappy and sad.


  1. Chapter 5 comprises the story “Quality”. The story is written by John Galsworthy. This story is about German shoemakers, who owned a shop by the name of Gessler brother’s. The main theme of the story focuses on the topic of  ‘commitment’.The author tries to emphasize through the story that commitment to one’s work and passion leads to success. Gessler’s brother’s commitment to their work is really touching. They struggled every day but they believed in working continuously in spite of many hardships.


  1. Chapter 6 consists of the story “Expert detectives” and it is written by Sharada Dwivedi. The story is about kids, a seven years old boy named Nishad and his 11 years old sister named Maya. They are always suspicious about a man by the name of Mr.Nat. The story revolves around these two kids trying to understand Mr. Nath as they considered him as a crook. The moral of this story is to not judge a book by its cover. 


  1. Chapter 7 comprises the story ”The invention of Vita-Wonk” and it is written by Roald Dahl. The story is very interesting and is based on science, fiction and depicts fantastic ideas. The story revolves around a scientist by the name of Mr. Willy Wonka who discovers a tonic and named it Wonka Vita. This tonic could make anyone younger but the side effect of the tonic was if consumed more it could even make a person disappear. The story beautifully depicts not experimenting with nature. It also teaches the readers to not mess with time. 


  1. Chapter 8 comprises the story “Fire: friend and foe”. It is an informative story that showcases the importance of fire. It is difficult to imagine lives without fire. Fire is one of the most important discoveries of humankind. It could be used as a friend to solve many problems. However, it is very important to take precautions as it could also destroy things and create havoc. There are measures by which fire could be controlled like water, sand and various firefighter instruments could be used to fight the fire. The entire theme of the lesson fire: friend and foe is to show how fire could be a friend if it’s used properly or it could act as an enemy when used wrongly.
