A Story Depicting Why did Kalindi Marry Krishna?

The Story is about Krishna and Kalindi. One day, Krishna and Arjuna went on a hunting trip. They decided to take a bath in the Yamuna as the day was close. Krishna had just seen a pretty woman walking by the river. Arjuna was dispatched after her right away by Krishna. When Arjun enquired about her, he learned that Kalindi was the sun's daughter and that she loved Krishna dearly and wanted to wed him. Krishna had a significant relationship with Kalindi throughout his formative years. Let's read the entire narrative in the next chapters.

The Story of Kalindi, Wife of Lord Krishna

Do you know Who Kalindi is? Kalindi is Lord Krishna's fourth wife. Hence she is on the Ashtabharya list. Kalindi is referred to as Yamuna or Yami in older works, and then Kalindi is described with the name Kalindi in later literature and scriptures. To her previous name, Yamuna, she is Hindu culture's famed and sacred river. She is worshipped and is said to wash away the sins of those who bathe in the river. Surya and Sanjana's daughter was Yamuna. Surya is the sun deity, and Sanjana is the cloud goddess. Kalindi's significance in Krishna's life extends beyond being his wife to his earlier days swimming in the river.

Yamuna has been an important part of Lord Krishna's life since birth. Vasudeva carried Lord Krishna on his head across the Yamuna River to Vrindavan and safely delivered him to Nanda and Yashoda. Vasudeva requested that Yamuna clear the way for them to cross the river and arrive at Vrindavan. Vasudeva could cross the river securely and soundly due to her actions. This was her first encounter with Lord Krishna and her introduction to him. She was enraged that night but suddenly calmed down after touching this baby's feet.

Growing up, Krishna was very close to Yamuna, as he spent most of his time with his friends on the river bank. He played the flute; he danced with Gopis and Radha. He also played catch and throw with his friends. The game of catch and throw takes us to a specific incident of his life. Kaliyadaman, the king of snakes that resided in the river, was polluting it and turned out to be fatal for most Vrindavan residents. Krishna smartly found a way to defeat the snake and send him away from the river and the village. Kalindi kept falling in love with him and was more attracted to him when she saw the soul-touching love of Krishna & Radha.

According to the Bhagwat Purana, an adult Krishna once visited his relatives, the five Pandava brothers, their common wife Draupadi, and their mother Kunti, in their capital Indraprastha, which is located on the banks of the Yamuna. The eldest Pandava, Yudhistira, requests that Krishna stay with them for a few days. Krishna and Arjuna, the middle Pandava, go hunting in the jungle one day. Arjuna was exhausted from their hunt. He and Krishna bathed in the Yamuna and drank from its clean water. A gorgeous young lady was wandering down the riverbank. Krishna saw her and invited Arjuna to meet her to find out who she was.

When Arjuna questioned, the girl told him that she was Kalindi, Surya's daughter, and that she was residing in a mansion built by her father in the river where she had been undergoing rituals to have Krishna as her husband and would remain there until she found him. Arjuna delivers Kalindi's message to Krishna, Vishnu's avatar, who agrees to marry her, touched by her devotion. Then they rode in the chariot with Kalindi to Indraprastha and saw Yudhishthira. Krishna and Kalindi returned to his capital Dwarka with their entourage after a few days there and got married.
