Pre RMO stands for Pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad. Pre RMO or Pre RMO is a preliminary round conducted for the selection of candidates in the Regional Mathematical Olympiad. Students who are interested in mathematics-related competitions must take part in Pre RMO, the first step to Indian Mathematical Olympiad. However, before registering for the exam, it is crucial that students are aware of the Pre RMO eligibility criteria set by the exam authority. It is the candidate’s responsibility to see if he/she meets the eligibility conditions.
Pre RMO 2020 result will be recognized by the Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education for the subsequent selection process of IMO. Pre RMO examination is the first level of the Indian Mathematical Olympiad program. Candidates will be notified of the date on which HBCSE will publish the Pre RMO result on the designated website for the Pre RMO examination. The merit lists with the details of qualifying candidates will be sent to every regional coordinator of the Pre RMO (Pre Regional Mathematical Olympiad) examination. The merit list for Pre RMO 2020 results will display the results of candidates in a region-wise manner. For every region listed under the merit list, the roll numbers of qualifying candidates will be grouped according to their class or grade. Usually, there are two separate lists for every region, one for Classes 8 to 11, and the other for Class 12 in the Pre RMO 2020 result. Keep reading below for more details.

In general, the Pre RMO examination is scheduled to be held in August, and the Pre RMO result is declared by September. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, all events related to the Pre RMO examination, as well as the Pre RMO 2020 result, are going to be rescheduled. The revised schedule with all the new dates will be published shortly on the official website of the Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education. So, students who are willing to take part in the Pre RMO examination are suggested to keep an eye on the official website of HBCSE, for further updates on the Pre RMO exam date and Pre RMO 2020 results.
The merit list will have 3 columns. The first column will have the names of the participating regions. The second column will have the roll numbers of qualifying candidates from classes 8 to 11. The third column will have the roll numbers of qualifying candidates from class 12.

Step 1: Go to the official website of the Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education and click on the link for the designated website of Pre RMO. You will be redirected to the webpage of MTA (I), the Mathematics Teachers’ Association (India).
Step 2: Search for the link for Pre RMO 2020 result and click on it. Now, you will be redirected to the webpage of your results.Â
Step 3: As you scroll down, you will be able to find the Pre RMO 2020 results displayed in the form of a merit list.Â
Step 4: Look for your registered region and click on your class group, in the corresponding columns.Â
Step 5: The PDF with the list of roll numbers of qualifying candidates will be displayed on the screen. Also, the cut-off marks and the total number of candidates who qualified in the Pre RMO result will be displayed at the top of every page of the merit list PDF.Â
Step 6: Download this list and keep it safe for your future reference in the IMO program.
About 300 students from classes 8, 9, 10, 11, and about 60 students from class 12 are likely to be selected in the Pre RMO 2020 result. If the examination can be held in an offline mode, all candidates will get copies of their OMR sheets after the examination.
Students of classes 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 will be eligible to participate in the examination of Pre RMO. Only those students who qualify in the Pre RMO 2020 results will be eligible to take part in the RMO examination, which is the second level of the Indian Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) program.

Q2: When will the Pre RMO Results be Released?
Answer: The Pre RMO examination is usually held in the month of August and the results are published in the month of September. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire process of Pre RMO is being rescheduled. The tentative date for the Pre RMO results will be released shortly on the official website of the Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education. All the events related to Pre RMO including the Pre RMO 2020 results are most likely to be conducted in an online mode due to the current pandemic situation.
Q3: How Many Students will be Selected in the Pre RMO 2020 Result?
Answer: Nearly 300 students from classes 8, 9, 10, 11 will be selected in the Pre RMO 2020 result, from every participating region. About 60 students per region will be selected from among those appearing in Pre RMO 2020 from class 12. All students selected in the Pre RMO 2020 will be eligible for appearing in the Regional Mathematical Olympiad of this year. Students may expect to receive a copy of their answered OMR sheets if the Pre RMO 2020 exam is conducted in a pen and paper format.
