1. What is the exam pattern of the NSEP 2021 question paper in detail?
Ans: The NSEC 2021 examination is held offline in two languages, i.e., English and Hindi. The pattern for NSEC is as follows:
Part A1 and Part A2 are the two components of the NSEC 2021 test.
Section A1 has 60 questions of 180 marks, and part A2 has 10 questions of 60 marks.
NSEC 2021 will have a cumulative ranking of 240 marks.
Students will get a negative marking of one for each incorrect answer, and three marks for each correct answer.
2. What are the eligibility criteria for the National Standard Examination in Chemistry (NSEC)?
Ans: The eligibility criteria for the NSEC is decided by the IAPT as follows:
The Age Criteria involves being eligible for the exam. The candidate must be between the age of 15 years to 20 years.
For the Educational Criteria-
Candidates appearing for the NSEC test must not have passed/qualified for the class 12th Board exam or any other equivalent exam earlier than November 30 of the same year.
Students applying for the test must not apply for studying in a university or equivalent by June of the same year, appearing for NSEJS of the same year.
The Other Criteria involves:
Applicants should be residing & studying in India for at least 2 years or earlier before applying or must be studying in an Indian school for at least 2 years or earlier before applying.
Candidates must possess or be eligible to possess an Indian passport issued by the Government of India.
3. What are the stages in the National Standard Examination Chemistry Olympiad (NSEC)?
Ans: The chemistry Olympiad consists of various stages to test the candidate’s ability in the exam along with maximum participation. It has the following stages.
Stage 1: National Standard Examination in Chemistry (NSEC).
Stage 2: Indian National Chemistry Olympiad (INChO).
Stage 3: Orientation cum Selection camp of Chemistry (OSC).
Stage 4: Pre-departure Training Camp for INChO (PDT).
Stage 5: Participation in the International Chemistry Olympiad.
Stage 1 is the only stage led by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers- IAPT. All the other stages are administered and conducted by the HBCSE (Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education).
4. What is the application process for the NSEC?
Ans: An aspirant can apply offline for the exam from the nearest NSE centre. The centre where the candidate will submit the application form will also be considered a venue for the examination.

Step 1: The Students should first visit the NSEC centres. Students can also pick up their application forms at any of their local NSEC centres.
Step 2: After visiting the nearest NSEC centre, students should collect their NSEC 2021 registration form from the centre coordinator and then submit it after carefully filling out the necessary information.

5. What are the rewards and encouragements for NSE Chemistry Olympiad?
Ans: The main aim of the National Standard Examination in Chemistry is to involve the students with the highest participation possible from the country and showcase their talent Internationally.
The top 300 students in NSEC clear for the INOC that is the Indian National Olympiad in Chemistry or the second stage.
Certificates are awarded to the top 10% of students in every centre (the list of centres can be found in the ‘Application Mode & Process Section').
The top 1% of students in the country receive a special Merit Certificate and a novel for their performance.
The top 1% of students in each subject receive merit certificates.
