Answer: Living beings need water to drink, bathe, grow crops, and for other daily activities. Water bodies also provide a home to many plants and animals. That is why many people and animals prefer to live near them.

3. What would happen if it did not rain in your region for two years?

Answer: If it did not rain for two years, rivers and ponds would dry up, crops would not grow, groundwater levels would go down, and people and animals would face water shortages, leading to drought and food scarcity.

4. What do you think happens to rainwater in a forest compared to a city?

Answer: In a forest, rainwater seeps into the soil, recharges groundwater and supports many plants and animals. In a city, water mostly flows away on roads and pavements, not soaking into the ground, causing less groundwater recharge and sometimes waterlogging.

5. Can you design a house or school that conserves water wisely? What would it include?

Answer: A water-conserving house or school would include a rainwater harvesting system, open garden areas with soil, water-saving taps and toilets, reuse of greywater for gardening, and soak pits for groundwater recharge.
