When Will the JEE Main Rank List Be Out?

From 2019 onwards, JEE Main is conducted twice a year. The JEE Main 2023 exam will be conducted in 2 sessions as well, i.e., January and April for admissions in the next academic session of 2023-23. Earlier, students were allowed to take the exam only three times. Now that the exam itself is being conducted twice a year, students are allowed to take the exam 6 times - two attempts per year. There is a limit on the number of years you can attempt in. That limit remains 3. The application process for JEE Main 2023 session 1 began on 18 April 2023 and the last date to apply for the same is 25 April 2023 (until 9 pm).

JEE Main 2023 rank declaration will only be made after the second round of the exam. So, even after the JEE 2023 April exam is completed, you have to wait for the second round to get over. After you take the second round of the exam, your best results among the two will be judged to assign you a rank.

Inter-se-Merit Method: JEE Main 2023 Ranking System

If a situation arises where two or more candidates have secured the same scores, NTA follows the inter-se-merit rules to allot ranks to them for admission to B.E. / B.Tech. If you are wondering what the inter-se-merit system is, read the following to get a clear picture:

  1. Those examinees who secure higher marks in Mathematics will get a better rank.

  2. If the tie remains yet unresolved, the student who has achieved higher marks in Physics will be awarded a higher rank.

  3. If a tie still exists, the NTA score of Chemistry will be taken into account.

  4. If there is still a tie, the candidate with more positive answers than negative ones will be given preference.

It is noteworthy that the age criterion has been eliminated from the policy of tie-breaking. On the contrary, an eligible candidate with a higher number of accurate responses will get precedence. With this change, it is predicted that JEE Main 2023 rank lists will possibly have multiple toppers placed on the same JEE rank.
