Inter-se-Merit Method: JEE Main 2023 Ranking System
If a situation arises where two or more candidates have secured the same scores, NTA follows the inter-se-merit rules to allot ranks to them for admission to B.E. / B.Tech. If you are wondering what the inter-se-merit system is, read the following to get a clear picture:
Those examinees who secure higher marks in Mathematics will get a better rank.
If the tie remains yet unresolved, the student who has achieved higher marks in Physics will be awarded a higher rank.
If a tie still exists, the NTA score of Chemistry will be taken into account.
If there is still a tie, the candidate with more positive answers than negative ones will be given preference.
It is noteworthy that the age criterion has been eliminated from the policy of tie-breaking. On the contrary, an eligible candidate with a higher number of accurate responses will get precedence. With this change, it is predicted that JEE Main 2023 rank lists will possibly have multiple toppers placed on the same JEE rank.
