Introduction to the JEE Advanced Exam

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) conducts a national level engineering exam every year. This exam is known as the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). The JEE exam is divided into two different exams. These are JEE Mains and JEE Advanced exams. Students who clear the JEE Mains exam become eligible to give the JEE Advanced exam.   • JEE Mains qualification - The top 2.5 lakh students who have qualified for the JEE Mains exam will appear for the JEE Advanced exam.

  • The number of attempts - The candidates can give this exam two times in two consecutive years.

4. How are the marks distributed in all the sections of both papers in JEE?

Marking Scheme of Paper - 1

  • Section I - 24 marks (negative marking: -2 marks)

  • Section II - 18 marks (negative marking: -1 mark)

  • Section III - 24 marks (no negative marking)
