It offers them the opportunity to try pursuing their preferred career in the esteemed engineering and architecture universities/ institutes of the nation. Considering this scope of possibility that the exam presents, candidates all across the country eagerly await the D-Day (JEE Mains examination day).

It is in this context that aspirants need to be reminded about the importance each aspect of this exam holds for them. They need to be updated regarding every news relevant to this entrance.

Applicants need to be well aware of the

  • • Required eligibility criteria to sit for this entrance

  • • Documents required to register and apply for it

  • • Schedule and syllabus of the exam, etc.

  • One of the most essential aspects of JEE Mains is the selection of examination centres. Read on to find out why it is essential and the other updates related to it.

    JEE Mains examination centres

Every year, thousands of candidates apply for this entrance examination hoping to get a chance at studying in the reputed colleges of the country. This, in turn, acts as the first push required to start a successful career.

Moreover, JEE Mains also acts as the preliminary examination for the JEE Advanced. Clearing the advanced level test would offer candidates the scope to pursue their favored branch of engineering in the IITs.

Hence, candidates often prepare year-round for this test. To help with their preparation, NTA released the important dates relevant to this entrance from beforehand, the eligibility criteria, list of examination centre, etc. Additionally, the conducting body also announced that the entrance will now be held in the offline mode and twice in a year – the 2 sessions will primarily be in January and April.

Below are a few details about the examination centres.

  • I. How to choose the best examination centre?

  • Candidates usually face a lot of problems due to the less number of examination centres. Keeping this in mind, NTA has not only planned examination centres spread evenly across the nation but has also arranged for centres abroad. This would be highly beneficial for foreign applicants.

National candidates can choose from the available list of examination centres spread across 258 cities in India while foreign aspirants get to choose from the 9 international examination centres.

This choice is made available to candidates during the registration process. They can select a maximum of 4 centres according to their preference. However, the seats are filled on a first-come-first-serve basis, and hence, at times, candidates fail to get their preferred locations. In this case, they have to compromise and choose from the centres available.

Here is how they can select their examination centre:

Step 1: Log on to the official website for JEE Mains.

Step 2: Click to register for the entrance.

Step 3: Fill in the required details of a. applying for which exam b. mode of the examination c. question paper medium, and d.
    choice of online exam centre.

NOTE: The choice of examination centres also determines the medium of question paper. For example, in case you want to attempt your entrance in either English or Hindi, you need not be worried about the centres because all of them provide these two mediums.

However, if you want to give your exam in Gujarati, the centres you should opt for include Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Gujarat, and Daman and Diu.
