JEE Main Chemical Thermodynamics Revision Notes - PDF Download

A branch of Physics that deals with heat, work, and temperature, and their relation to energy, radiation, and physical properties of matter is Thermodynamics. The four laws of Thermodynamics govern the behaviour of these quantities. By which it conveys a quantitative description using measurable macroscopic physical quantities but may be explained in terms of microscopic constituents by statistical mechanics.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q1. How Many Laws are There in Thermodynamics?

Ans: There were three fundamental laws in Thermodynamics traditionally, that was known as the first law, the second law and the third law of Thermodynamics. Later more fundamental statements were labelled as the zeroth law. This law which is known as the zeroth law defines equilibrium and forms the basis of temperature.

Q2. Define the Term Thermodynamics.

Ans: The study of how work and heat relate to each other both in chemical reactions and changes is defined as Thermodynamics. The Thermodynamics key features involve the laws of Thermodynamics, system, four state functions. The systems are defined as the particular objects that we were looking at.

Q3. Define Carnot Cycle.

Ans: The ideal Thermodynamics which was proposed by a French physicist named Sadi Carnot and was expanded upon in the late 1830 and 1840 from a series of different state when the system is carried out through a series of different states and finally returns to initial this is when a cycle is said to be completed.

Q4. Explain the Second Law.

Ans: The second law states that the processes that involve heat energy are irreversible. It also states that of any isolated system there is a natural tendency to degenerate into a disordered state.
