The Indian Institute of Technology Madras categorised as the new-generation institutes which provide higher technical education. It is situated in South Chennai, on a beautiful campus which is spread across 630 acres. The IITM has grown from strength to strength ever since its foundation from India's Parliament in 1961 and has since built itself as a significant centre of research, technological development, and consultancy.IITM is a government engineering institution located in Chennai. It was founded in 1959, IITM was the third institution to be made under the Institutes of Technology Act (1961) of Indian Government. National Institutional Ranking Framework for four consecutive years - 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 declared IITM as the top engineering institution.
IIT Madras offers almost 92 courses in various disciplines at the UG. The duration of these courses is four years for UG programs.
IIT Madras seeks admission in undergraduate courses through written entrance examinations called a Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE). The students who qualify this examination will be eligible for a four year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree, and a five-year dual degree (Integrated course).
IITM also provides scholarships to students using Institute free studentship, Merit-cum-Means Scholarship, Institute Notional Prize and Institute SC/ST Scholarship. The admission process begins in September for undergraduates. The counselling process for admission to all IITs is facilitated by Joint Seat Allocation Authority. According to his JEE ADVANCED RANK, the candidate is allotted a seat in the course and preference of the courses is allotted through the JEE ADVANCED RANK.
There are a total of six counselling sessions for the candidates. The eligibility criteria of almost all the courses include:
Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology as the major subjects.
Minimum of 60% of marks in +2 to appear for admission.
SC/ ST will have the relaxation of up to 5% in the minimum qualifying marks.
Cut-off of the particular course.
The students are required to complete entire admission applications to apply to IIT Madras. It occurs in the online portal on the official website. The student should register for the JEE Advanced exam for B.Tech courses. The candidate will have to upload all the personal, academic details and upload Scanned Images of Candidate’s Photograph and Signature in the official website. The students will then submit an application fee using Debit card/Credit card/Net banking/UPI/PAYTM. Print the acknowledgement slip for future reference after the payment is made.
The candidates should apply their application through the college's official website, for applying in IIT Madras. However, candidates must also apply on the official website of the relevant examination. The candidate applying B.Tech should fill the entire application form of JEE Advanced via National Testing Agency (NTA).

JoSAA has declared the final closing cutoff rank for all the B.Tech specialisations available at IIT Madras. JoSAA conducted almost six rounds of JoSAA Counselling. Therefore, in the graphs shown below shows a declining and fluctuating trend.
A declining cutoff trend has been observed for all the B.Tech programmes except Computer Science & Engineering and Engineering Physics specialisations. It is shown by the graphs given below.

IIT Madras encourages the students to pursue their dreams by providing scholarships. More than 20 scholarships to its students with various eligibility criteria by the IITM. Out of which, Some are stated below:
IIT Madras enhances professional communication, soft skills and personality by counselling classes given by professional agencies/experts. 70% of students of IITM were placed with the highest package for aerospace. There were a total of 537 students registered, and 376 internships were given to the students.

Ans. For admission to B.Tech/ Dual degree programme, candidates need to pass JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams. The final admission is followed by JEE Advanced rank and JoSAA counselling.

Ans. IITM gives decent residential accommodation for its faculty and their family, students, administrative staff.
