Introduction
NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) conducted by the National Council of Education Research and Technology (NCERT), is a scholarship test conducted for identifying bright students, studying in class 10th and wanting to pursue their higher education in science and social science.
This exam is only available for the class 10th students, and consists of two different stages- stage I and stage II. Stage II takes place for the students who are successful in clearing Stage I. The students who are able to clear both the stages are awarded scholarships that will help them pursue the stream of their choice for their higher studies. These scholarships are awarded by evaluating the performance of the candidate in both the stage I and stage II examinations.

NTSE Eligibility Criteria For Stage I - State Level
The candidate must be a class 10th student, studying from any government or private school in India.
The student can belong from any state or union territory of India.
Those who are studying in distance are also eligible to apply for the exam, but the following terms are to be kept in mind- they should be below the age of 18 and unemployed and must be appearing for the class 10th examination for the first time.
NTSE Eligibility Criteria For Stage II- National Level
The students who are able to qualify for the stage I examination, are the only candidates who are eligible to sit for the stage-II examination. The official website of the NCERT will convey the roll number, date, and venue of the examination to the respective candidates.
NTSE Eligibility Criteria For Students Studying Abroad
Indian students studying abroad in class 10th are eligible to sit for the stage II exam directly.
To be able to sit for the exam, the candidate should have scored 60 percent and more in their previous year’s annual examinations.
The student is required to give the exam in the center allotted in India.
The candidate must obtain a request from the Head of the Institution where they are studying. This request should be forwarded to the Head, Department of Educational Survey Division, NCERT, New Delhi by the 31st of December of the concerned year of appearing for the examination.
The candidates who pass the exam and get selected are to pursue their higher education in India.
Marking Scheme Based On The NTSE Answer Key
The marking scheme pertaining to the NTSE 2019-20 stage 1 examination is allotted in the given fashion;
A number of correct answers * 1, ie, students attain one mark for every correct answer. It is also to be kept in mind that there are no negative markings for any wrong answers in Stage I.
Once the candidate manages to clear the stage I examination, he/she gets to sit for the stage 2 examination. Here the marking scheme is different as for every wrong answer, one-third of the marks will get deducted. There will not be any negative markings if the question is left unanswered.
NTSE Qualifying Marks
The students are expected to earn a total of 40 percent if they belong to the general category. In the case of the candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PH categories, the candidate is required to score a total of 32 percent.

Stage-1 of the exam was conducted on 13th December 2020 for 11 states including Haryana. The Haryana NTSE Stage I examination answer key incorporates answers to 100 questions.
