Every CBSE student of the academic year 2024-25 must get familiar with the Hindi syllabus and mark distribution patterns well. In many cases, students get puzzled about this matter. CBSE Class 11 Hindi syllabus consists of two sub-divisions; Elective and Core. The syllabus of both subjects are the same and include the most important topics of this academic year. Students should follow the syllabus minutely, which specifies marks distribution of each unit with time duration. It will help them to get an exact scenario and get good marks in the examination.


Class 11 Hindi Syllabus - Overview

CBSE Class 11 Hindi syllabus is divided into the following sections, these are:

Section 1

The ‘Unseen’ section holds 15 marks and comprises two sub-units. i. unseen passage and ii. unread poem. The detailed marks distribution is given below:

1. Unseen Passages:

Students have to write comprehensive answers on unseen passage, implementation, conversion, 10 multiple-choice questions or 1 concise answer. This unit comprises (10x1) = 10 marks.

2. Unread Poems:

This sub-unit of ‘Unseen’ section consists of comprehensive questions on unread poetry, implementation, conversion, 5 multiple-choice questions or 1 concise question. This unit has a weightage of (1 x 5) = 5 marks.

Section 2

This unit has official Hindi and creative writing-related questions (Based on the scenario and suggested book) and holds 25 marks.

1. In the CBSE syllabus for Class 11 Hindi core, students are asked to write creative writing on given events/ topics. These questions come up with multiple options or in essay format. 5 marks are allotted for this unit.

2. The appearing students for the academic year 2024-25 have to write a formal/informal letter (essay type). 5 marks are assigned for this unit.

3. The syllabus consists of practical writing like:

  • Report writing

  • Press release

  • Circular

  • Agenda

  • Minutes of meeting


Multiple options are provided in this unit. This unit holds (3 x 1) + (2 x 1) = 5 marks.

  1. Dictionary-related 5 multiple-choice questions come up with the weightage of (1 x 5) = 5 marks.

  2. The appearing students of the CBSE Class 11 Hindi examination are asked to answer journalism and mass media-related questions – 5 marks.

Section 3

Section 3 comes up with textbook related questions, and this section has 40 marks in its weightage. The details marks distribution is given below-:

1. ‘Aroh Vag’(Prose) -1

30 marks are allotted for this unit.

A. ‘Kavya Vag’- 15 Marks

  • Three questions are given in the Class 11 Hindi examination. The questions are related to the inner meaning of the unread poetry given (2 x 3) = 6 marks.

  • Students have to write two answers related to the beauty of unread poetry. This unit is generally provided with multiple options for the students, and the marks distribution pattern is (2 x 2) = 4.

  • Questions related to the subject matter of poetry (with options) (3x1)+(2x1) – 5 marks.

B. ‘Gadya Vag’(Poem)

15 marks are allotted for this unit.

  • The appearing students are asked to write the answers to three questions related to the inner meaning of unread poetry (3 x 2) - 6 marks.

  • Comprehensive questions related to the subject matter come up with (3+3+3) – 9 marks.


2. ‘Bitan Vag’-1

10 marks are allotted for this unit.

  • Question based on subject matter (3 x 2) + (2 x 2) - 10 marks.

Section 4

A total of 20 marks are assigned for this section.

  • Viva-voice – 10 marks.

  • Assignment or Project – 10 marks.

The full marks allotted for the entire paper is – 100.
