What did she do to save herself from the hunters? Did she fail to protect herself? Find out the answers by reading this story.

The Doe That Lost One Eye

Once upon a time, there was a doe. She was a very happy doe until she lost one eye in an accident. Since then, she could not see properly and was blind on one side. She was very frightened to step out of her home and feed. She had to find a way to stay safe from the hands of predators and hunters. The hunters were also looking for a unique way to get their hands on the doe.

The Plan of the One-eyed Doe

She was unable to see on one side. It meant she could not detect danger on one side and had to rely on only one eye. She thought that the best way to keep her safe is to feed on the highest cliff. From there, she could easily see what was going on down and could be safe.

She always kept an eye on the ground beneath the cliff and fed on the trees and grass. Her idea was working perfectly. Any suspicious movement in the open ground and the river beneath, she could spot it and flee.

The Hunter’s Plan of Catching the One-Eyed Doe

The hunters were unable to get their hands on the one-eyed doe. They tried and tried but could not track where she was going to feed. One day, a hunter saw that she was climbing a cliff with difficulty. He knew instantly that it was the same doe that had lost an eye.

He was unable to aim the doe as she was high above the ground in a cliff. He thought of a plan to catch the doe. The next day, he brought a boat to the river. The water was calm and it was easier to aim that doe from there. He stopped the boat and waited there patiently for the doe to arrive. The boat was kept hidden behind the bushes so that doe could not spot it from that height.

The End of the One-Eyed Doe

The doe was unaware of the hunter’s plan. She took the same route according to the plan and reached the top of the cliff. The moment she stooped to feed on the grass, the hunter aimed and shot his arrow. It killed the doe and she fell from the cliff into the river. The hunter picked her up and went away with his boat.
