NSEB Exam Date 2020

Due to Covid 19 - The usual three-stage procedure for the selection of the teams to represent India at the International Olympiad that has been followed in prior years is now being shortened to a two-stage procedure as a one-time exception only for the academic year 2020 - 21. The National Standard Examination in Biology abbreviated as (NSEB) is a competitive olympiad exam that is conducted by the Scientific Community of India since the year 2000. NSEB is the first stage of selection of students in the Biology Olympiad Programme, organized by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) at different centers all over the country.  Every year 20000 to 60000 students participate in this exam. NSEB is the selection stage for the selection of aspiring and talented students in the Biology Olympiad Program. The students are eligible for other stages only after clearing this stage.

The Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) has announced the dates for National Standard Examination in Biology (NSEB) examinations and events.

The registration starts from August 1 and the last date for registration is August 20.

The candidates can be enrolled between August 1 to September 14. The last date for payment of the fee by the center in-charge through center login is September 16.

Important Dates for NSEB

IAPT conducts the National Standard Examination in Biology, in November of each year throughout India. The top 1 percent of those who qualify these exams then sit for the Indian National Biology Olympiad, from which the team for the International Biology Olympiad is selected. 

The students who are not able to find a registered center can enroll directly with IAPT on the link "direct enrollment". Such candidates can enroll themselves between September 10 to 16.

  • The dates for senior science or NSEP, NSEC, NSEB, NSEA examination is November 22, 2020.

  • The dates of examination for junior science (NSEJS) is November 17, 2020.

  • The marks will be displayed on December 18.

  • The list of candidates of MI and above MAS will be announced on December 22, 2020.

  • To satisfy appropriate eligibility criteria in NSEB, the candidates must score more than 50 percent of the average of the top ten scores. This is the Minimum Admissible Score (MAS). If they score more than 80 percent of the average mentioned above, they are selected for Indian National Biology Olympiad. This score is the Merit Index (MI).

  • The final list of selected candidates for the Indian National Olympiad (INO) will be released on December 25, 2020.

NSEB 2020 Registration Form

As per the latest revised norms of NSEB, Registration Form 2020 is handled by the respective schools/ colleges of a candidate. In case if the NSE center does not register the schools/ college, then also candidates can take part in this examination by registering themselves at a nearby center.

Students who registered from states other than the state of their school are required to send a scanned copy of the NSE Admit Card and the school ID through the email before the due date.

Registration Fees

  • For Kendriya Vidyalaya and other schools, the registration fee for senior science (NSE) is Rs 150/- per student per subject, and junior Science (NSEJS) is Rs 110 per student.

  • And for Jawahar Navodyaya Vidyalaya, the registration fee for NSEJS, i.e junior science, is Rs 150- per student.
