MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 Dates - Latest Status

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has not yet released the official MCC NEET UG counselling 2026 dates. The schedule will be published on mcc.nic.in only after the Re NEET 2026 result is declared.

Here's where things stand as of now:

  • The original NEET UG 2026 exam scheduled for May 3, 2026 was cancelled following paper leak allegations.

  • The NTA conducted the Re NEET 2026 on June 21, 2026, with more than 22 lakh candidates appearing.

  • The result is expected in the third to fourth week of July 2026 — it has not been declared yet.

  • MCC counselling 2026 will therefore begin roughly one to two weeks after the result, likely from August 2026.

MCC NEET Counselling 2026

Because the entire 2026 cycle has shifted by around two months compared to a normal year, every MCC NEET UG counselling 2026 date below is an expected projection, not an announced one.

MCC conducts AIQ counselling in four rounds — Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and the Stray Vacancy Round. Each round follows the same sequence: seat matrix → registration & fee payment → choice filling & locking → seat allotment result → reporting. The expected timeline is below.

MCC vs State Counselling - How the Two Calendars Interlock?

A detail that decides seats but is rarely explained: the AIQ and state counselling calendars run in a deliberately staggered sequence, so that candidates who take an AIQ seat vacate their state seat in time, and vice versa. The pattern MCC follows is:

Stage

AIQ / Deemed & Central (MCC)

State Counselling

Round 1

First

Begins after MCC Round 1

Verification of joined candidates

By MCC

By States

Round 2

Follows state verification

Follows MCC Round 2

Round 3

Stray Vacancy

The practical takeaway: AIQ Round 1 always opens before state counselling Round 1. If you're eligible for both, you must track the MCC NEET UG counselling 2026 dates and your state's schedule simultaneously — missing the MCC window because you were waiting for your state's notification is a mistake candidates make every single year.

Also note: AIQ seats left vacant after Round 2 are surrendered back to the states, which is why the state Mop-Up rounds often have more seats than expected.

NEET Counselling 2026 Last Date - Deadlines That Cannot Be Extended

The "last date" is not a single date - every round has its own set of non-negotiable deadlines. Missing any one of them removes you from that round entirely.

Deadline Type

What Happens If You Miss It?

Registration & fee payment last date

You cannot participate in that round at all

Choice filling last date

You are treated as having no preferences

Choice locking last date

Your entered choices auto-lock as final

Reporting last date

Seat is cancelled; security deposit forfeited

Stray Vacancy joining last date

Disqualification from NEET UG the following year, plus fee forfeiture

That last row is the one to take seriously - the Stray Vacancy Round carries the harshest penalty in the entire counselling system.

Round-wise Rules Tied to the MCC Counselling 2026 Dates

The dates only matter if you know what each round permits. These rules carried through the previous cycle and are expected to continue:

  • Round 2: Fresh registration is required if you didn't register in Round 1 or weren't allotted a seat. Non-reporting after a Round 2 allotment means your security deposit is forfeited.

  • Round 3: Fresh registration is again needed if you skipped Rounds 1 and 2, or resigned/failed to report. No resignations are permitted in Round 3 for AIQ, Deemed or Central Universities.

  • Round 2 → Round 3 upgrade: If you joined a Round 2 seat, you may express willingness to upgrade. But if you're upgraded, you must obtain relieving from the Round 2 seat — and you then get no further upgrade or resignation option.

  • Not joining in Round 3: You exit MCC counselling entirely, with fees forfeited and no participation in later rounds.

  • Stray Vacancy Round: Joining the allotted seat is mandatory. Failure to join leads to debarment from next year's NEET UG.

When to Use MCC Login NEET UG During the 2026 Cycle?

Your MCC counselling login on mcc.nic.in becomes relevant at specific points on the calendar. Log in on these dates:

  • When the round's registration window opens — to register and pay

  • When choice filling activates — the 'Available Choices' link goes live only then

  • Before the choice locking deadline — to lock and print your preference list

  • On the seat allotment result date — to download your allotment letter

  • When a fresh round opens, if you were unallotted and need to re-register

What MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 Dates Cover?

The MCC calendar governs seats that no state counselling touches:

  • 15% All India Quota MBBS/BDS seats in state government colleges

  • 100% MBBS seats of AIIMS across India

  • 100% MBBS/BDS seats of BHU

  • All India Quota seats of JIPMER (Puducherry & Karaikal)

  • All India Quota seats of AMU, DU, VMMC and ABVIMS

  • All India Quota seats of the Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia

  • All India Quota seats of ESIC and AFMC

  • 100% seats in Deemed Universities

The remaining 85% state quota seats follow an entirely separate calendar set by each state authority.

(Note: MCC also runs MCC NEET PG counselling on a completely separate schedule — do not confuse the two calendars.)

FAQs on MCC NEET Counselling 2026 Dates: Round-wise Schedule, Registration and Last Date

1. When will the MCC NEET UG counselling 2026 dates be announced?

MCC will publish the official schedule on mcc.nic.in after the Re NEET 2026 result is declared, which is expected in the third to fourth week of July 2026. Counselling is likely to begin in August 2026.

2. Why is the MCC counselling 2026 running later than usual?

Because the original NEET UG exam of May 3, 2026 was cancelled over paper leak allegations and re-conducted as Re NEET on June 21, 2026. The entire cycle — result, counselling and admissions — has consequently shifted by roughly two months.

3. How many rounds are there in MCC NEET UG counselling 2026?

Four — Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and the Stray Vacancy Round. If seats still remain vacant, MCC may conduct additional rounds.

4. What is the NEET counselling 2026 last date?

There is no single last date. Each round has its own deadlines for registration, choice filling, choice locking and reporting, and missing any of them excludes you from that round. The final cut-off is the Stray Vacancy Round joining date.

5. Does MCC counselling start before or after state counselling?

MCC's AIQ Round 1 begins before state counselling Round 1. The two calendars are staggered deliberately, so candidates eligible for both must track them in parallel on mcc.nic.in and their state portal.

6. What happens to AIQ seats left vacant after Round 2?

They are surrendered back to the respective states and become part of the state quota pool for the later state rounds.

7. Do I need to log in separately for each round?

You use the same MCC login NEET UG credentials throughout, but fresh registration is required for Round 2 or Round 3 if you didn't register earlier or went unallotted.

8. What is the penalty for missing the Stray Vacancy Round reporting date?

It is the severest penalty in the process — the candidate is disqualified from appearing in NEET UG the following year and forfeits all fees paid.

9. Are the MCC NEET UG and MCC NEET PG counselling dates the same?

No. MCC NEET PG follows a completely separate schedule and application cycle. Do not use the UG calendar for PG admissions.

10. Where should I check for official MCC NEET UG counselling 2026 date updates?

Only on the official MCC nic in counselling portal, mcc.nic.in. Schedule changes are sometimes notified with as little as 24 hours' notice, so check it daily once counselling begins.
