FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q1: How has Jawaharlal Nehru Described his Relationship with the Moon?

Ans: Pandit Nehru says that when he first came to the prison at Ahmednagar, there was a full moon spreading its light all around. So, each time the moon comes out after an extremely dark night, it reminds him that he has completed one more month in prison. He also feels that the moon is like his friend in the lonely nights of prison and gives him hope. Like after the darkest hours of the night, there is a bright full moon, similarly, after movements of utter gloominess, humans can expect a bright tomorrow.

Q2: What was Mr Nehru’s Preoccupation at the Prison and Why did it Have to Stop?

Ans: Pandit Nehru loved gardening, and this is what he continued in prison too. But the historical land was very stony and full of debris. While digging the land, they found remnants of many domes and ancient walls. He could not pursue gardening because he did not possess the right tools for digging such land, and even the officers did not allow them to go further.
