FAQs on NCERT Solutions For Class 6 Science Chapter 4 Sorting Materials Into Groups in Hindi - 2025-26

1. How do the NCERT Solutions for Class 6 Science Chapter 4 help in exam preparation for the 2025-26 session?

The NCERT Solutions for Class 6 Science Chapter 4 are designed to provide clear, step-by-step answers for all textbook questions. They help you understand the correct methodology for answering questions as per the CBSE pattern. By studying these solutions, you can grasp key concepts like the properties of materials and how to classify them, which is essential for scoring well in your exams.

2. What is the correct method, according to the NCERT Solutions, to test if a substance is soluble or insoluble in water?

The NCERT Solutions explain the method step-by-step. First, take a beaker or glass of water. Then, add a small amount of the material (like salt, sugar, sand, or chalk powder) to it and stir well. Observe if the material disappears completely in the water. If it does, it is soluble. If it settles at the bottom or remains visible, it is insoluble. This practical method helps solidify your understanding.

3. How do the solutions for Chapter 4 explain the difference between transparent, translucent, and opaque objects?

The solutions clearly define each term with examples to ensure full understanding. They explain that:

  • Transparent objects are those you can see through clearly, as they allow all light to pass (e.g., glass, clean water).
  • Translucent objects allow some light to pass, so you can see through them but not clearly (e.g., butter paper, frosted glass).
  • Opaque objects do not allow any light to pass through them at all (e.g., wood, metal, a book).
This classification is based on how materials interact with light.

4. Are all the in-text and exercise questions from the NCERT textbook covered in these solutions for Chapter 4?

Yes, the NCERT Solutions for Class 6 Science Chapter 4 provide comprehensive answers for every single question found within the chapter and in the end-of-chapter exercises. This ensures you have a reliable resource to verify your answers and understand the concepts thoroughly, leaving no part of the CBSE syllabus untouched.

5. Why is it important to learn the step-by-step method for grouping materials as shown in the NCERT Solutions?

Learning the step-by-step method is crucial because it builds a strong foundation in scientific observation and classification. This systematic approach, emphasised in the solutions, helps you not just memorise properties but understand the logic behind why objects are grouped together. For example, grouping all lustrous objects helps in identifying metals. This skill is fundamental for more advanced science topics in later classes.

6. How do the NCERT Solutions help clarify the difference between the 'hardness' and 'lustre' of a material?

The solutions clarify this by defining each property distinctly. Hardness refers to a material's resistance to being compressed or scratched—some materials are hard (like iron) while others are soft (like a sponge). Lustre, on the other hand, refers to the shine of a material's surface (e.g., gold, steel). The solutions use examples of materials that can be hard but not lustrous (like a stone) to prevent this common confusion.

7. Besides appearance and solubility, what other properties are used for sorting materials in the Chapter 4 solutions, and why are they significant?

The solutions highlight several other key properties. These include:

  • Hardness: To differentiate between materials that can be compressed easily and those that cannot.
  • Floatation/Sinking: To group materials based on their density relative to water.
  • Transparency: To classify materials based on their ability to let light pass through.
These properties are significant because they allow for a more detailed and useful classification of the vast variety of materials around us.

8. Why do the NCERT Solutions often use tables to answer questions about comparing material properties in Chapter 4?

Using tables is a highly effective method for presenting comparisons, which the NCERT Solutions adopt for clarity. A table allows for a direct, side-by-side comparison of different materials based on multiple properties like solubility, hardness, and transparency. This format makes it easier for students to see patterns, understand differences, and revise information quickly, which is a key skill for writing better answers in exams.
