JEE Main is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission into various undergraduate programs such as Engineering (B.E/B.Tech) and Architecture (B.Arch/B.Planning) at Indian Institute Technology, National Institute of Technology, Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Centrally funded Technical Institutions (CFTI).

The National Institute of Technology (NITs) are autonomous universities, and they are one of the most sought-after public institutes for higher education. They are under the control of the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007, which declares them as institutions of national importance along with the IITs. National Institute of Technology Agartala (NIT Agartala) is one of the most popular technical institutions in India.
