FAQs on ICSE Class 10 Revision Notes

1. When should the students start revising?

While many students think that revision starts only after completion of the entire syllabus, this may not always be the case and there are exceptions for different subjects also. For instance, there are students who have a hard time retaining the things that they have learned while there are others who are more comfortable at it. In such cases, the students who find it difficult to remember the things that they have learned, can revise at regular intervals and not necessarily after completing the portion. Revision can be done after three or four topics have been finished, and at the end, a complete revision is also recommended.

2. Should the same revision strategy be followed for all subjects?

Different subjects have different numbers of topics and also contain a unique set of things that the student must remember while appearing for the paper. Maths in Class 10 has about 23 chapters alone, while other subjects have somewhere close to that. It is thus important to figure out the perfect strategy that will work considering the different sets of hurdles that each subject offers. In Maths, it is important not only to remember the formulas to the T but also to understand how to apply the formulas. On the other hand, for Science, a deeper understanding of the way in which things work and conceptual clarity is needed. Hence, one must understand what the subject actually demands and tackle that with a different strategy. Revising derivations, important formulae, proofs and theorems could be the way to go for Maths; conceptual clarity is essential for Science, which involves three different branches of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

3. How much will revise help in boosting my score?

Regardless of the subject and your confidence in the things that you have learned, without revision, you cannot guarantee that you will remember everything at the time of the exam. For any student who has appeared for mock tests or solved previous year question papers, he or she must have realized that many times, there are instances where one knows what is to be done, but is not sure how it is to be done. Especially for subjects like Maths where a little change of operation like plus changing to a minus or a division changing to multiplication or anything like that, can lead to you solving the entire problem on a completely opposite tangent. The only way you can ensure this does not happen to you is by doing thorough revision at regular intervals. It is, therefore, safe to say that revision is essential for getting a good score and good and sufficient revision can easily boost your score by up to 5 to 10%.

4. What are the things to be followed one day before the exam?

What is very important to know is that, by revision, we do not mean that the student burns the midnight oil the day before the exam by going through the textbook. It is just not possible to go through everything within a span of a few hours, and hence, a proper planned strategy for a vision is expected. It is rather better if one relatively stays away from the books a day before the exam and freshens up his mind which will help him perform optimally on the day of the exam.

5. What sources refer to other than the ones mentioned in this article?

Although everything mentioned in this article is sufficient for one to consider his revision done, we also recommend you to go the extra mile and make notes of your own while studying and revising. Notes made by experts are always helpful, but what can prove just as helpful is the revision that you do from the notes you made yourself. Thus, one should make it a habit to highlight important points, jot them down somewhere, and also revise them at regular intervals. These solutions are available at free of cost on Vedantu's website and mobile app.
