ICC Cricket World Cup Winners

The Cricket World Cup is a four-year international cricket championship that is the world's most popular one-day cricket tournament and one of the most widely watched sporting events. In 1975, England hosted the first Cricket World Cup, which consisted of a series of 60-over one-day matches. For the first time in the year 1987, it was held outside of England, in India and Pakistan. The number of overs per side was similarly decreased to 50 in the year 1987 match. Australia became the first team to win three World Cup tournaments in a succession in 2007. There have been 12 World Cup tournaments. The men's Cricket World Cup, which began in 1975, is an international cricket competition.

The men's national teams of members of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the sport's global governing body, compete in the tournament. The competition is held every four years on average. Most recently, England defeated New Zealand to win the 2019 Cricket World Cup, which was hosted by England and Wales. In 1999, the present award was established. It is always kept by the ICC, and the winning team gets a replica. Australia has won five World Cups, making it the most successful country in the world. India and the West Indies are the only two countries to win the World Cup twice. In 1983 and 2011, India won the World Cup, while the West Indies won in 1975 and 1979. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are the other two World Cup winners, having won in 1992 and 1996, respectively. England is the only country to have lost three World Cup finals while hosting the tournament five times.
