All You Need To Know About the Exam

Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) is responsible for conducting the Bihar Diploma Certificate Entrance Competitive Examination (DCECE) for admission into polytechnic colleges and institutions of Bihar. Candidates who are aspiring to get admission to the top-notch polytechnic colleges in the state of Bihar should appear in this examination. But prior to that, they should look into the exam pattern of this exam.

DCECE Exam Pattern 2022

Every aspiring candidate should learn the exam pattern of the DCECE 2022 exam before preparing for the entrance test. Since the notification has not been released by the (BCECEB), knowledge about the previous exam patterns will help a candidate in preparing an excellent exam strategy by allocating equal time to all the subjects in order to ace the exam. 


While the application process for DCECE is completely online, Bihar Polytechnic 2021  was a pen-paper based exam that offers admissions to Polytechnic Engineering (PE) and Part-time Polytechnic Engineering (PPE) programmes. 


The exam duration was a total of 2 hours 15 minutes. Each correct answer would fetch 5 marks. The below table is given to make the candidates understand the DCECE exam paper pattern for PE & PPE Courses.

Bihar Polytechnic Application Form 2022

Bihar Polytechnic 2022 application form has been available on the official website of the conducting authorities from the 1st week of May 2022. The form will have two segments - Part 1 and Part 2 like the 2021 application form. The application form consists of important details such as personal, academic, qualification, communication details etc. 


In case candidates make any error, it can be fixed by contacting the concerned authorities within a stipulated time period. However, upon successful completion and submission of the application form online, candidates must take the printout of the Application Form (both segments) along with the required documents and challan (if paid through bank transfer) and send it along with all the documents to the following address -

Seven Step Procedure to Apply for Bihar Polytechnic Exam Pattern 

STEP 1: Registration

Candidates must register on the Online Portal of DCECE using their email ID and mobile number. They must use an active mobile number as all the further details will be shared on their phone.


STEP 2: Personal Information

Fill in the entries that required your Personal Information. Then click on Save & Continue and proceed to the next.


STEP 3: Upload Photo & Signature

Upload your photo and signature to the portal. Photo must the name of the applicant and the date of photographing are mentioned.


STEP 4: Educational Information

Upload all the required education documents’  scanned copies on the portal. 


STEP 5: Preview Your Application

This is a very crucial step. In this step, you need to preview the details submitted by you carefully. If you find any discrepancies, you can edit and resubmit the details. After this, you would not be able to edit your details again.


STEP 6: Payment of Examination Fee

By clicking on the button ‘Proceed to Payment’, you have to submit the fee. There are two ways to submit the fee:

1. Payment through Challan, 2. Online Payment using any Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking.


STEP 7:  Download the Documents

Candidates are required to download the Receipt and Application Form. Hard copy of these docs will be needed at the time of counselling.

Preparation Tips for Bihar Polytechnic Exam

The following are some preparation tips for the Bihar Polytechnic 2022 examination:

  • Go over the complete exam pattern and syllabus- First thing, start by going through the updated syllabus and exam pattern so that you have a clear idea of what needs to be done and how much time you should devote to a particular topic. 

  • Make a study routine and stick to it every day- If you don't have a plan, you'll never achieve your goals. That is why, in order to prepare effectively for the upcoming exams, students need to make a study schedule first and then make a habit of sticking to it.

  • Make notes of the topics and review them daily- To excel in exams it is important to prepare your own hand-written notes and they will help you understand the concept better and also helps in your last-minute preparation. 

  • Candidates can also solve previous year's questions and take mock exams- It is always recommended that students solve previous years' question papers, especially after a revision of the syllabus. Practising old question papers will help you gauge your preparation level and show you where you are weak or strong.

  • Throw away the exam fear—stress, anxiety, and fear will only hinder your performance in exams. So, begin preparing for the examination with a relaxed attitude. You just have to put in the best effort, the outcome will come out naturally.

FAQs on Bihar Polytechnic Exam Pattern 2023-24

1. Will there be negative marking in Bihar Polytechnic Exam?

No, there won’t be any negative marking in the Bihar Polytechnic exam. The questions on the paper are objective type. The paper is prepared in both English and Hindi languages. Candidates are required to choose the correct answer only from the four options. For each correct answer, they will receive 5 marks. There is no negative marking. However, still, it is always advised to students to first attempt those questions for which they are sure to avoid wastage of time-solving the questions they don’t know. 

2. Is the DCECE exam Online?

No, the DCECE exam will be conducted through offline mode, specifically pen and paper mode. You cannot appear in an online mode based on whatsoever reason. However, the application for the same can be done in online and offline mode as well.  In online mode, the fee can be paid through net banking however for the offline mode you can pay the fees by challan. 

3. How can I download the Bihar Polytechnic Admit card? 

Bihar polytechnic exam admit card will be released in an online mode. Candidates can access their admit cards through the official website. Candidates must check the admit card for any discrepancy. If any errors are found in the admit card, applicants must inform the concerned authorities. Admit cards must be brought to the exam site on the day of the test. For downloading their Bihar Polytechnic admit cards, candidates must enter their registration number and date of birth. The admit card contains information such as the exam date, group name, exam centre address, instructions for the exam day, etc. Individual hard copies of the admit cards will not be mailed to candidates.

5. What is DCECE eligibility criteria? 

Check the eligibility criteria below before filling out the DCECE application form. 


Nationality Eligibility: Indian Citizen and belonging to at least one of the following categories: Either parents must be Bihar natives OR must be refugees in Bihar.


Age Criteria: Under Polytechnic Engineering (PE), there is no specific age limit. Under Part-time Polytechnic Engineering (PPE), the minimum age should be 19 by July 1 (according to the year of admission). For Paramedical Dentistry (PMD), the minimum and maximum age are 15 and 18 years, respectively.
