Hint: For the good yield and better quality of crops, farmers practice mainly seven different processes which are necessary and each step has its own specific importance in the crop production.
Complete answer:
The steps involved in the crop production are as follows:
1. Crop selection – this is the first step of the crop production, this step does not involve the requirement of any tools. In this step, the crop to be grown is to be selected by the farmer which is done on the basis of the type of soil of the field and climate conditions of the area along with other factors.
2. Land preparation- this is the second step involved and this step is necessary to ensure that the land is ready for the crops to be planted. This stage involves processes like tilling, ploughing, mixing and turning the soil, etc.
Tools like a plough are used on this step.
3. Seed selection- the third step of the crop production is seeds of good quality are to be selected for the crop, this is a very crucial step and again in this step also, there is no involvement of tools.
4. Seed sowing- this is the fourth stage of crop production in which seeds are sown in the field, this can be done either manually called as broadcasting, hand spades can also be used for carrying out the digging process. Tools used can be seed drills for better sowing the seeds.
5. Irrigation- this is the fifth step and it involves providing a suitable and proper amount of water required by the crops for better growth.
Tools that can be used are water flow meters, soil sensors.
6. Fertilizing- it is the next step in which fertilizers are sprayed and supplied to the crops for their proper growth. Use of pesticides, herbicides and insecticides are also done to prevent any damage to the crops. Tools used can be fertilizer sprayers or sometimes done manually.
7. Final step is Harvesting- in this the fully grown and mature crops are cut and harvested,
Tools used- Sickles are usually, machines like harvesters can also be used.
Note: Each step is necessary to be performed for good production of the crops and equipment can be used according to the convenience like for large pieces of land, use of tools are necessary as working manually is a time taking process.
