The International Biology Olympiad, or simply the IBO, is the penultimate stage of otherwise five-phase exams. Being the world’s premier exam, IBO aims to inspire the new generation of young biologists and build an international network in the field of life science.
Undertaken by the International Olympiads in the year 1990, IBO is organised by different countries annually. The 31st International Biology Olympiad has been scheduled to take place in Nagasaki, Japan.
As the leading international exam in Biology, it is necessary to shape future scientists worldwide. Thus IBO eligibility criteria hold utmost importance. Before preparing or considering preparing for the International Biology Olympiad, follow the eligibility criteria for 2020 mentioned below.
The IBO exam eligibility starts at the national level. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

Candidates must hold an Indian Passport.
According to the Madras High Court order, OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India) students will not be eligible for applying in the International Olympiads as the Indian Team (terms and conditions applied).
Each participatory country can send four members to the International Biology Olympiad (IBO). Those students must be the winner of the National Biology Olympiad of the respective year and selected in the Orientation cum Selection Camp (OCSC) in Biology.
Students must not have completed the Class 12 exam.
Students must be under the age of 20.
The International Biology Olympiad is a five-stage program. Therefore, students must hold an explicit knowledge about the IBO eligibility criteria along with the eligibility criteria of preliminary stages also.
