A Brief Introduction to the AP MBBS Admission 2020

Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) is the governing body that administers MBBS and BDS admission in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Aspiring individuals are required to fill up the relevant application form to enrol themselves for AP MBBS admission 2020. After the completion of this application process, the NTRUHS publishes a merit list based on various criteria.

After the initial merit list is published, candidates have to go through a document verification process. A final merit list is also to be published and based on that students have to appear for their counselling. After the counselling process, students have to visit their allotted colleges to complete their AP MBBS 2020 admission.

Merit List of AP MBBS Admission for 2020

As mentioned earlier, the provisional merit list for Andhra Pradesh MBBS admission will be published based on the preliminary application process. Candidates included in this list need to get their documents verified at their nearest centre. Doing so will make them eligible to attend the counselling process.

Once the document verification process is concluded, the competent authority will publish a final merit list. However, AP MBBS admission 2020 final merit list will be divided into two categories, management quota and convener quota. Additionally, NTRUHS will also release a list of students from AP who have qualified the NEET 2020. These merits lists will only be published online.

Furthermore, this final merit list will contain names of the applicants who have been selected for counselling.

Counselling for AP MBBS 2020

There are around 5200 Andhra Pradesh MBBS seats available for counselling in 2020. 31 medical colleges in this state are participating in this counselling process. 85% of these seats will be filled by the state authority, i.e. Dr NTR University of Health Sciences. On the other hand, the remaining 15% will be counselled via Directorate General of Health Services on behalf of MCC (Medical Counselling Committee).

Whatever the process may be, students must obtain a high rank in the NEET merit list to improve their chances of securing Andhra Pradesh MBBS admission.

Eligibility Criteria of 2020 AP MBBS Admission

Candidates seeking admission to AP MBBS 2020 must pass 12th standard boards or its equivalent examination with biology, physics and chemistry. Moreover, they must secure the following marks to appear for state counselling rounds –

  • General or unreserved category: 50%

  • OBC/SC/ST: 40%

  • General applicants with physical disability: 40%

With 85% of the total seats being reserved for the students from the state of Andhra Pradesh, residents of AP must remember the following criteria for their AP MBBS admission 2020 –

  1. Applicants should have studied in any local educational institutes of the AP for a minimum of 4 years. Additionally, their last academic year should be the same as that of appearing for NEET.

  2. Candidates who have lived in more than one region of the state for 7 years and the 7th year being their NEET exam year. In a case like this, the area where this said candidates had spent more time will be considered. However, in case the number of years spent in each region is the same, then the area from where that candidate has last completed his/her studies will be counted.

  3. Similar rules are applicable for students who have resided in either of the AP regions for seven years in a row but have not studied there.

Candidates applying for AP MBBS 2020 admission under domicile quota must fulfil the following criteria –

  1. Students should be a resident of Andhra Pradesh as per the Presidential orders.

  2. Either the applicant or one of the parents have lived in AP for a minimum of 10 years.

  3. Both or either of the parents of the applicant is a central government employee/ AP state government employee/ an employee of any public sector company or similar organisations. 

Application Form of 2020 AP MBBS Admission

Aspiring students are required to fill their application forms online. However, two separate forms will be published for management quota and convenor quota. Candidates must provide their NEET marks, rank, residential address, confirm their local or non-local status, etc.

To successfully submit Andhra Pradesh MBBS admission form applicants must pay the following fees –

  • Rs.3000 for general and OBC category

  • Rs.2000 for SC/ST categories

  • Rs.3000 for management quota students irrespective of their category
