NTSE 2020 Paper Solution Haryana (SAT)

SAT is Scholastic Aptitude Test. NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) Haryana is conducted by SCERT Haryana, is a scholarship test conducted for identifying the bright students wanting to pursue their higher education in science and social science. NTSE is conducted for 11 states including Haryana. This test usually tests the student’s aptitude and hence the questions are not only from Science and Social science but also from reasoning and maths. 1. Who conducts the NTSE Haryana and when?

NTSE Haryana is conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training. Basically, this is a state-level exam and is hence conducted by SCERT. NTSE at the national level is conducted by NCERT. 11 more states also conduct this exam. The exam comprises two stages. The first stage is usually conducted in December-January. The students who qualify for this exam are only eligible for stage two of this exam. Results of stage one are usually declared by February and the qualified students can start their preparation for stage two of the exam which is usually conducted in May-June of every year.

2. What are the eligibility criteria for appearing in this exam?

SCERT has designed the eligibility criteria for the students who can appear for the exam. The criteria can be summed up as follows:

  • Class 10 students are eligible to sit for the exam with at least 55% in their class 9 final exam. Though this differs for reserved category students.

  • The students who qualify for the exam will get a scholarship only if they study on a full-time basis. They won’t get a scholarship for any part-time courses.

  • If the students have started any sort of jobs or they get any other scholarship or stipend this scholarship will discontinue.

  • If they already get any scholarship while appearing for this exam they won’t get this scholarship even if they qualify both the stages of the exam successfully.

  • NRI students can directly appear for the stage two exam on certain conditions given by the national council (NCERT)

3. How to appear for NTSE Haryana?

The students have to first fill up the application form for the exam. They can either fill it online or offline. The hard copies are usually given by schools and if students want to apply online they have to follow the below steps:

  • The students have to first go to the official website scertharyana.gov.in

  • They have to click the link ‘News and Events. A PDF format of the application along with other information can be downloaded from there.

  • Print and fill the hard copy of the application form and the attached admit card.

  • The forms should be properly signed by the students, their parents, and the school principal in proper places as assigned.

  • The students can directly submit to the State liaison officer or they can submit to the school authority who will submit it to the officer.

  • The students have to give an application fee also along with the form.

4. What is the pattern of the NTSE SAT Haryana?

The students should first understand the pattern of the exam and then decide to take the preparation accordingly for appearing the exam. The question paper consists of two parts namely the Mental Ability Test and the Scholastic Ability Test. These are referred to as MAT and SAT. Both contain 100 questions each of the same standard of difficulty. MAT consists of questions on reasoning tests both verbal and non-verbal reasoning while SAT consists of Science, maths, and social science questions. Each question from either section carries one mark each. The wrong answer doesn’t bring negative marks. The council does not follow any prescribed syllabus for the exam. The exam is a 4 hours exam with 2 hours for each section of MAT and SAT.

5. How to prepare for the coming NTSE Haryana test?

The coming NTSE Haryana exam is on January 16, 2022. So if the students are really interested to appear for the exam and they fulfill the eligibility criteria for the exam they should start early for the preparation. Since there is no prescribed syllabus for the exam they should mainly focus their study on solving previous year’s papers and have the solutions handy for understanding the questions and clearing their own concepts.
