Is 75 criteria removed from JEE 2023?” A question is being asked frequently by each of the candidates appearing for the JEE Main 2023 exam.

As the JEE Main 2023 exam dates have been announced by the conducting authority, i.e. NTA (National Testing Agency), many JEE aspirants are wondering whether the 75 criteria for JEE Main 2023 have been removed. But why is this question getting a rise? Why are candidates confused about the criteria? Let’s get into the full details.

75 Criteria for JEE Main 2023

According to the eligibility criteria of JEE Main, only the candidates in the General/OBC category who have passed Class 12th with 75% are eligible to sit in the exam. In the case of the SC/ST category, relaxation is given in this 75% criteria as they are required to score 65% in the 12th Board exam to be eligible for JEE.

Simply put, if a candidate (General/OBC) scores less than 75% in board exams, he/she will not be eligible to apply for the JEE Main exam. So, the 75% criteria can be considered a cut-off for the candidates to be eligible to appear in the exam.

Now let’s move further. This 75% criterion is one eligibility requirement that a candidate must fulfil to appear in the exam. But last year, this criterion was waived off by the ministry of education for JEE Main 2022 during lockdown and COVID-19 as school studies were affected and the performance of the students was not up to the mark.

Since this 75% criterion has been waived off in 2022, many people are questioning, “Is 75 criteria removed from JEE 2023?” or assuming that it will be removed for the JEE Main 2023 as well. So, it will be too soon to answer this question as no announcement has been released by the NTA yet. Let’s take a look at the JEE Main eligibility criteria:
