The National Testing Agency has announced that the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2022 will take place on June 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29, as well as July 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30, 2022. For candidates appearing for the JEE Main exam in 2022, NTA issues mandatory exam day guidelines. And with a few exceptions, JEE Main 2022 allows students to wear whatever they like.
In this blog, a list of prohibited items, guidelines for JEE Main 2022 dress code, and code of conduct during the exam are provided in the JEE Main instructions for all candidates to read. As we have mentioned before, as far as JEE Main dress codes go, NTA has not established any regulations, so students can wear whatever they want. However, they must ensure that they do not wear or carry any such item that may cause them trouble at the exam centre.
JEE Main candidates have to follow the following guidelines on the day of the examination:
During the exam, candidates are required to maintain the code of conduct. Any malpractice must be avoided.
Those without a hard copy of their admit card, a photograph, and proof of their photo ID will not be allowed to appear in the exam.
To avoid last-minute hassles, candidates are urged to arrive at the testing location at least one hour in advance.
The candidates must visit the exam venue one day before the exam date to familiarise themselves with the route and travel time to avoid unpleasant conditions on exam day.
Conversations, gestures, or disturbances in the examination hall are considered misbehaviour.
Under no circumstances will NTA be responsible for re-testing any candidate.
Although the NTA hasn't yet prescribed any specific guidelines for the JEE Main 2022 dress code, it is recommended that you adhere to the below-mentioned guidelines when appearing for the exam. The dress code for male and female candidates can be found below. Candidates who appear for the exam must know the JEE Main 2022 dress code beforehand.
Only caps, scarves/stoles, and jewellery/metallic items are restricted in the JEE Main dress code 2022. NTA JEE Main 2022 students, however, are advised to dress according to the weather and season. Below are details about the JEE Main dress code for 2022 and other instructions for students:
Below are the 2022 JEE Main dress code guidelines for male candidates:
It is forbidden for male candidates to wear any clothing with metallic elements. Belts, wallets, and other metallic items can cause problems during frisking, so they should be avoided.
To avoid any problems while writing the exam, it is recommended to wear half sleeves and comfortable clothing. Clothes with drapes should be avoided.
Caps, mufflers, or any material that covers the head are not allowed.
There is a strict prohibition on wearing jewellery or ornaments.
No goggles, rings, bracelets, or similar items are allowed in the exam hall.
It is not permitted for students to wear hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, or mufflers.
Shoe-wearing candidates are subjected to more thorough checks. Therefore, you should wear slippers or sandals.
The following dress code should be followed by female candidates appearing for the JEE Main 2022:
Considering the season and weather on the day of the exam, female candidates should wear light and comfortable clothes.
Metallic or items containing metal, such as belts, underwired bras, etc., must not be worn by candidates.
An ordinary T-shirt and jeans, or a top/kurta with leggings would be more appropriate. It is recommended to wear cotton, Khadi, or breathable fabrics.
Jewellery, goggles, rings, bracelets, and ornaments should not be worn by candidates.
If you wear a fancy scarf, hat, watch, or sunglasses, be sure to remove them at the exam centre.
Long-sleeved clothing or trousers that have too many pockets should be avoided.
It is advisable to avoid wearing hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, stoles, and shawls.
The screening process is longer for candidates wearing shoes. It is, therefore, recommended that you wear sandals or slippers.
Avoid wearing clothes with large buttons and badges.
The frisking process will take longer when the hairstyle is complex, such as a bun.

To avoid any health issues during the exam period, diabetics are advised to keep track of their health.
There is, however, a restriction on packing foods to be carried, including candy, chocolates, sandwiches, juice boxes, biscuits, etc.
Candidates are advised to report at the centre as stated in the Reporting/Entry time at the centre as a precaution for COVID-19.
After the Gate Closing Time, no candidate will be allowed to enter.
Candidates must not leave the Exam Room/Hall before the examination is completed.
Candidates should wait for instructions from the invigilator when the examination is completed. They should not leave their seats unless instructed. Only one candidate will be allowed to leave at a time.
Candidates must carefully read and follow the COVID-19 Instructions and Advisory that come with the admit card.
Candidates are advised to attend the examination venue a day ahead of time to check over the arrangements.
Without a proper bag check using the Handheld Metal Detector, candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination centre. This will be done without putting any pressure on the body.
For rough work, candidates will be given five blank paper sheets. Before leaving the examination hall/room, candidates must write their name and roll number at the top of the sheet and put it in the designated dropbox. Failure to do so may result in the answers not being evaluated.
At the end of the examination, the properly filled Admit Card must be deposited in the dropbox. Failure to do so may result in the candidate's answers not being evaluated.
Candidates must not use unfair means or engage in unfair exam practices. JEE Main Examination centres are typically monitored by CCTV and have jammers installed.
If it is discovered at any time that a candidate has submitted multiple applications and appeared on more than one date/shift, the candidate's candidature will be terminated, and legal action will be taken, including exclusion from any future NTA exams.
Candidates should monitor the NTA website for updates on a regular basis.
